The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2 is the upcoming fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch and the second of two albums to be released by the band in 2013, with Volume 1 having been released on July 30.
Five Finger Death Punch was formed in 2005 by guitarist Zoltan Bathory (formerly of U.P.O.). Bathory named the band after Chinese action movies. Other members recruited to the band include former Motograter & Ghost Machine vocalist Ivan Moody, former W.A.S.P. members guitarist Darrell Roberts and drummer Jeremy Spencer, and former Anubis Rising/Deadsett bassist Matt Snell.
The band recorded their debut album The Way of the Fist in 2006 with Stevo "Shotgun" Bruno (Mötley Crüe, Prong) and Mike Sarkisyan (Spineshank). The record was mixed and mastered by former Machine Head/Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader. Soon thereafter, the band signed a deal with Firm Music, a branch of "The Firm". Their debut album The Way Of The Fist was released on July 31, 2007. The record broke into the Billboard 200 on its first week of release, and hit the #1 position on Billboard's New Artist/Heetseekers chart. Their first single, "The Bleeding" landed in the top 40 rock radio charts, eventually worked its way into the top 10 and remained there for 8 months. 5FDP not just repeated but surpassed their first single's success with their follow up "Never Enough". The song climbed even faster to top 10, until the 3rd single "Stranger Than Fiction" took its place. The band accomplished 8 major tour cycles supporting their first album, finishing up on the main stage of the 2009 Download Festival - and winning Metal Hammer's Golden Gods Award - for best new band.
Vocalist, Travis Johnson has been a bassist with the band IN THIS MOMENT for years. His devotion to music and lack of limitations on himself brought about the desire to sing. He had tried his hand at lead vocals with other groups, but when Guitarist Brian Jackson - formerly of SKINLAB and producer Logan Mader (ONCE HUMAN, MACHINE HEAD) came calling, he knew that the material they were putting together was an unmissable opportunity. As Brian, Travis and Logan were tracking, Bassist, Matt Snell (ex of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH), asked them who was going to play bass for the group. “You” said Travis, who had been in a band called FLATLINE with Matt. “It was meant to happen,” he noted. “I have forced it to happen in bands, but this one I didn’t need to. It felt right.” Matt brought with him a drummer who had been a local friend in Sparks, NV. With a drumline background, Darren Badorine proved himself with the group. “We made Darren work his ass off to get this job,” says Brian. Next came Brian’s ex SKINLAB bandmate, Marcos Medina, who joined as a second guitarist once the recording was completed, rounding out the band.
"Take It Like A Man", the sophomore album from Los Angeles-based metallers BUTCHER BABIES. Due on August 21 via Century Media, the CD was produced by Logan Mader, who has previously worked with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, DEVILDRIVER, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY and GOJIRA.Regarding the musical direction of BUTCHER BABIES' new CD, vocalist Carla Harvey said: "The majority of the album is very aggressive thrash metal. On this album, we wanted to go back to our roots, which were aggressive thrash, and ninety percent of the album is that."
