Born in Brooklyn, and raised in Toronto, Marc grew up in a household that abounded with music. Classically-trained Charles Jordan, a singer and radio personality, exposed Marc to everything from Woody Guthrie to Grieg, and to all of the jazz greats.

It features performances by Robert Berry, Marc Bonilla, Terry Bozzio, Jerry Goodman, Tony Levin, Rod Morgenstein, John Petrucci, Simon Phillips, Mike Portnoy, Kip Winger, and Mark Wood. It contains two previously unreleased duets with Jordan and Kip Winger. The amazing thing about Jordan Rudess -Prime Cuts- is that, much like most of the Prime Cuts series, it flows as if the songs were meant to be compiled in this order, even though there are varying styles and artists performing them.

The album reached #32 on the US charts, #14 on the US R&B charts and #44 in the UK. It has never been reissued as a digital download.
