Tony "CISCO" Marsico is no stranger to the sparse desert sound. In 1984 his band The Plugz, were called on to score the cult film Repo Man". "This flick showed the lonely desolate side of the city few really know, the sound reflected the desert, afterall L.A. is one big desert except for a few plastic palm trees thrown in." says Marsico. Marsico's band would slowly morph into The Cruzados and release two critically acclaimed albums on Arista Records between the years 1984- 1988 and toured extensively throughout the U.S and Europe eventually landing them a prime spot at Farm Aid. In the spring of 2014 Cisco and Dewey got together in Joshua Tree and started writing songs together again and by June of 2014 they were recording their debut album with producer Tom Lavin. We kept the sessions to all good friends and called in our favorite players to record.

Did you realise that the chance of people actually becoming successful and creating a mere $1 million dollars in their lifetime is just 714 to 1? That's right just 1.4 people in 1,000 get to be worth a mere $1 million dollars after devoting their entire life to working… And most of that money is taken up by home equity. Now that statistic is a lot lower than people talk about in the Personal Development World…

Anglo-American Exchange in Postwar Sculpture, 1945–1975 redresses an important art historical oversight. Histories of American and British sculpture are usually told separately, with artists and their work divided by nationality; yet such boundaries obscure a vibrant exchange of ideas, individuals, and aesthetic influences. In reality, the postwar art world saw dynamic interactions between British and American sculptors, critics, curators, teachers, and institutions. …

From the late 1970s onward, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark were as much reacting to the sonic possibilities made available by technology as they were translating them, first as increasingly popular hit-makers at home and Europe, then with a clutch of memorable American singles. English Electric, the British new wave band's second full length since the reformation of the classic 1980s lineup in 2006, neither escapes from the quartet's past nor fully aims to. Afterall, they had Peter Saville do their cover art, just has he did for their debut 33 years ago.

When a young judo player finds great success in his field, he takes his rising star a little hard and finds solace in drinking at his club that he now owns and then gambling with what little money he generally makes. However, he isn’t that lucky in the world of gambling and is growing in debt. Enter into the picture a young woman looking for work as a singer at his club, and a young judo player looking to take on a legend. Thus begins our tale of renewal, sports and the search for acceptance as only Johnny To could tell it.
Simply terrific film from Johnnie To that's probably a little too self-amused for its own good, but qualifies as involving cinema nonetheless. The sum of the parts may not mean all that much, but the parts themselves are great stuff.
