Diana Ross (born Diana Ernestine Earle Ross, March 26, 1944) is an American singer and actress. During the 1960s, she helped shape the Motown Sound as lead singer of The Supremes, before leaving the group for a solo career on January 14, 1970. Since the beginning of her career with The Supremes and as a solo artist, Ross has sold more than 100 million records. During the 1970s and through the mid 1980s, Ross was among the most successful female artists, crossing over into film, television and Broadway. She received a Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her 1972 role as Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues. She won a Golden Globe award for Lady Sings the Blues. She won American Music Awards, garnered twelve Grammy Award nominations, and won a Tony Award for her one-woman show, An Evening with Diana Ross, in 1977. In 1976, Billboard magazine named her the "Female Entertainer of the Century." In 1993, the Guinness Book Of World Records declared Diana Ross the most successful female music artist in history with a total of eighteen American number-one singles: twelve as lead singer of The Supremes and six as a soloist. Ross was the first female solo artist to score six number-ones. This feat puts her in a tie for fifth place among solo female artists with the most number-ones on the Hot 100.

The Allman Brothers Band's fifth live release in 25 years, cut during 1994 in Raleigh, NC, and at the Garden State Arts Center in New Jersey, is a high-water mark in their Epic Records catalog. If anything, they're even better here than they were on the earlier Evening with the Allman Brothers Band, the old material getting fresh new approaches – the band was on for both nights, and presented sets, including an acoustic version of "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and "Jessica" (which won a Grammy Award), that soared and flowed, especially Dickey Betts and Warren Haynes' guitars. What's more, the clarity of the recording and the volume at which it was recorded make this a most rewarding 70 minutes of live music on a purely technical level – you can practically hear the action on the guitars during the acoustic set. It won't replace Live at Fillmore East or the live portions of Eat a Peach, but it deserves a place on the shelf not very far from them.

They could make things much easier, just at their age, with their reputation. Play something that people identify with them: Locking swinging mainstream, flowing musette. Hello Mr. Carter, nice to meet you! Bonjour Monsieur Galliano, comment allez vous? Everyone stays with him, cheers and celebrates; One in the jazz clubs of the city, the other in the halls near the Seine. But who knows the two "partners in crime" or "partenaires dans le crime" knows enough that they were always in danger, like adrenaline junkies, the adventure music never from the safe side, but always behind their own Horizon. Perhaps it is curiosity, but perhaps also the prudence to have realized early on that the restriction to oneself does not advance anyone, but rather leads to a standstill, sometimes even to a step back.

'Finale' was recorded live during the innovative folk band's 2008 tour - their first in 35 years and sees the original line up (Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Jacqui McShee, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox) revisiting classic repertoire. In February 2007 the original members of Pentangle - Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Jacqui McShee, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox received a BBC Radio 2 Lifetime Achievement Award from Sir David Attenborough. On 29th June 2008, marking the 40th anniversary of the recording their monumental live album 'Sweet Child' at the Royal Festival Hall, they returned to the very same venue to begin their first British tour since 1973. As Robin Denslow wrote in his review of the show for the Guardian, it was "an emotional, at times nervous, evening that was far more than an exercise in nostalgia, both because they are now even finer musicians than before, and because their sophisticated, quirky fusions sound as in tune with the current acoustic scene as with the more chaotic hippy era".
