Promised Land Or Bust is as deep as delta blues and heavy as thundering rock, as the band continues to wring hard-hitting, modern roots music from traditional forms. Aaron Moreland's guitar stays groove-friendly while firing off sledgehammer riffs, Dustin Arbuckle's raucous singing and harp playing reinforce the relentless drive of the music, and both are barely held in place by Kendall Newby's propulsive drumming. Even when the throttle is pulled back for a loping folk-tinged ballad or a noir-ish blues worthy of Tom Waits, the band's intensity and raw emotion shine through. "Raw, dirty, primal and infectious…sizzling guitar, sturdy vocals and rude harmonica" - USA TODAY "Deeply satisfying… gritty soul and blues with garage overtones and fire-and-brimstone vocals" - LIVING BLUES

THE FORGOTTEN FILMS OF ROSCOE "FATTY" ARBUCKLE celebrates a career that was unfortunately overshadowed by hype. In the 32 classic silent and sound comedies here, Arbuckle either directs or stars alongside a cast of slapstick comedy legends including: Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Rudolph Valentino, Harold Lloyd, Ford Sterling, Douglas Fairbanks, Mabel Normand, and child actor Jackie Coogan. All of the films here (many of which are rare) have had their titles and scores restored, and quite a few include previously unavailable or lost footage.

Of the 14 listed cuts on their debut CD, nine were written or co-written by harp player-vocalist Dustin Arbuckle and guitarist-vocalist Aaron Moreland. Covers include Charlie Patton, Fred McDowell, and an excellent, rough-and-tumble version of Bill Withers' 'Use Me.' The no-frills Issues Up Top makes it easy to hear that these guys deliver the goods. What they do isn't fancy, but neither was the music from most of their heroes. With Moreland's mean guitar growl playing off Arbuckle's smart, workaday vocals and harp, and the efficient groove laid down by bassist James Hocutt and drummer David Floyd, the quartet brings more untainted Blues feeling across than many bigger name artists on bigger name labels.

On Flood, Moreland & Arbuckle's debut release, the rootsy, hard-driving group from Kansas takes music itself to places it's never been. Featuring mostly original tunes, Flood presents a dynamic mix of thirteen acoustic and electric songs, each performed with all the subtlety of a passing freight train. Moreland & Arbuckle are traditionalists and innovators at the same time, merging old school Chicago and Delta blues with garage rock sensibilities. While Arbuckle was mostly influenced by the Mississippi blues, traditional country music and bluegrass, Moreland grew up listening to everyone from Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath to Charlie Patton and Muddy Waters.

Trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Dave Douglas was nominated for a Grammy Award following the release of 2005's Keystone, an album inspired by Fatty Arbuckle and recorded as a soundtrack to Arbuckle short films. Initially inspired by and set to accompany the films of Buster Keaton, that group – Douglas, DJ Olive, Gene Lake, Brad Jones, Marcus Strickland, and Jamie Saft – created an altogether modern sound that reflected the humor, drama, and tension in Keaton's films. It differed in form and content from his other electric recordings – and from the music made by his standard quintet that used a Fender Rhodes instead of an acoustic piano…

San Francisco, September 1921: Silent-screen comedy star Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle is throwing a wild party in his suite at the St. Francis Hotel: girls, jazz, bootleg hooch…and a dead actress named Virginia Rappe. The D.A. says it was Arbuckle who killed her - crushing her under his weight - and brings him up on manslaughter charges. William Randolph Hearst's newspapers stir up the public and demand a guilty verdict. But what really happened? Why do so many people at the party seem to have stories that conflict? Why is the prosecution hiding witnesses? Why are there body parts missing from the autopsied corpse? Why is Hearst so determined to see Fatty Arbuckle convicted?

Eddie, a conscientious if blundering mail carrier, is in love with Madge, a waitress, who is equally admired by Officer Flannigan and Harrigan, a fireman. The persistent efforts of Harold Jones, a promoter, to win Madge as his secretary unite the three rivals against Jones. They toss a coin to determine who will escort Madge to the postal ball, and Eddie wins; meanwhile, two detectives, undergoing tests to qualify them as postal inspectors, concentrate on Eddie. Madge accepts Jones's offer when the cafe owner tries to force his attentions on her. At the ball, Eddie, who does not dance, leaves Madge to his rivals, but during a black bottom contest, a piece of ice falls into his collar; and his wild gyrations win him the prize cup. Eddie is disillusioned to learn that Madge is engaged to Jones, but in delivering a package to the Jones home, he discovers that Jones is a swindler and with the aid of the detectives rushes to save Madge.
