In 2012 and 2013 Sony Music produced two box sets to celebrate the first two albums by Banco: 40 anni, issued in 2012 as a 2-LP or 2-CD set, contains the first album along with a second record including new unreleased live and studio recordings. Darwin!, issued in 2013 as a triple vinyl or double CD, contains the original second album and a live version recorded in 2012, along with an unreleased studio track sung by Franco Battiato. Both the sets include a picture book. The 2CD / 3LP set Un’idea che non puoi fermare was issued in 2014 to commemorate Francesco Di Giacomo and contains some lyrics of the group declaimed by movie and theatre actors. The 3 LP version was also issued in a limited edition on clear vinyl, only sold by Amazon.

Banco del Mutuo Soccorso's third LP, Io Sono Nato Libero, was released only a few months after the impressive Darwin!, and featured the same lineup (brothers Vittorio and Gianni Nocenzi on keyboards, Rodolfo Maltese on guitar, Pierluigi Calderoni on drums, Renato d'Angelo on bass, and Francesco Di Giacomo on vocals). It yielded one classic track, "Non Mi Rompete," a beautiful Italian ballad that would be part of the band's set list for the rest of its life…

This is some outstanding work from Banco, although with a different line-up than before. Gianni Nocenzi's lyrical piano is missed. Mostly hard-driving, though more melodic than their 80's stuff. Recommended without reservation…

The long-lived and influential Italian progressive band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso was influenced by such British progressive giants as Yes and Gentle Giant while also drawing heavily on classical and folk music. Although the group simplified their sound in later years, from 1972 to 1976 the group produced a series of eclectic, densely arranged progressive classics…

Darwin! will remain Banco del Mutuo Soccorso's masterpiece. This album, the band's second, is the proud equal of Premiata Forneria Marconi's Per Un Amico and Le Orme's Felona e Sorona in the Italian progressive rock hall of fame. In Darwin!, every promise made by Banco's eponymous debut was realized. Vittorio Nocenzi's writing has flourished into complex songs blending Italian songwriting, bel canto, and progressive rock…

This is a very rare live capture of Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso in their golden times, during the 'Darwin!' tour, their second album and one of their best ones as well. The recording is poor. The first track is especially bad, but it does get better.

Legendary Italian progressive rock band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso released its first LP in 1972 on the label Dischi Ricordi. The lineup included Vittorio Nocenzi (keyboards), Gianni Nocenzi (piano), Francesco Di Giacomo (vocals), Renato d'Angelo (bass), the newly arrived Pierluigi Calderoni (drums), and guitarist Marcello Todara, who would soon be replaced by Rodolfo Maltese. Although plagued by poor sound quality (something frequent with Italian albums from the early '70s), this eponymous release revealed a band with stellar musicianship, an inclination toward the kind of classical-meets-rock blend the Nice had been doing in England, affinities with the burgeoning European prog rock scene, and yet retention of strong connections with a hard-to-define Italian sound, thanks mostly to singer Di Giacomo. Banco del Mutuo Soccorso contained the fast-paced "R.I.P.," a good rock number with a surprisingly lyrical bridge, and "Metamorphosi." The latter became a fan favorite, even though its construction was uneven.

Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection.
BMS are entering the zone of pure art rock with self-confidence.
The development of this amazing band - Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, is totally in touch with one of their main literal themes - the evolution… BMS are going in their own astonishing way of evolution.

Banco is a 1975 album by Italian progressive rock band Banco del Mutuo Soccorso. The album was originally released on the Manticore Records label launched by Emerson, Lake & Palmer with whom the band shared a firm stylistic similarity. A lively and inventive collection of songs and instrumentals combining elements of classical chamber music, electronic rock and operatic song. Like PFM did earlier, Banco decided to put out an English language version of select songs from their previous albums. In this case from their first and third records plus a previously unreleased track.
