The German Electronics artist Robert Schroeder (discovered 1978 by EM pioneer Klaus Schulze) has produced numerous excellent solo CDs. The music of Robert Schroeder is various, but always soulful. Ferro OXID is produced in the real good style of the 80s EM. Sequencer and analogue Synthesizer sounds estimated by Berlin School style are emphasized and the impression of the good old Schroeder style is strongly expressed here. Exciting electronic soundscapes, bizarre tones, tension and relaxation, diversion, dreamy romantic synthesizer melodies (mostly played with the Minimoog) and infectious grooves are the right ingredients when it comes to the highest of all the relaxation, excellent listening and best Electronic Music.

One of his peculiarities was that he usually conducted concerts with his eyes closed, vexing many orchestra musicians. However, through Karajan’s intense rehearsals they were thoroughly prepared for performances. “His philosophy was that everything the orchestra needs had to happen beforehand,” the string bassist Rudolf Watzel recalled. Under Herbert von Karajan the Berliner Philharmoniker developed their very own performance culture, characterised by a beauty of sound, enchanting legati, virtuosity and perfection. He preferred to concentrate on the classical-romantic repertoire: Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Wagner and Strauss. In addition, he devoted himself to the Second Viennese School and leading composers of the early 20th century like Ravel, Stravinsky and Debussy, taking occasional excursions into the contemporary era with works by Messiaen and Henze, even Penderecki.

The most surprising release of 2003 for every Tangerine Dream fan was most probably The Bootleg Box Set Vol. 1. Sanctuary Music, well known for their numerous re-releases of TD material of the Pink and the Blue Years era, had been very successful with a series of bootleg boxes by ELP and approached Tangerine Dream for the same type of thing. Since they wanted old material and were pressing to get these boxes into the pipeline as swiftly as possible, TD could not go into the process of scanning their own archives and restoring old tapes. So they chose to use readily available bootleg sources for the first two planned sets…

Ian Boddy provides the listener with a rich atmosphere of original timbres and floating soundscapes. He is one of the few of his generation to have successfully integrated electronic music styles as diverse as seventies-style sequencer structures, melodic neo-classicism and the post-rave Modern Ambient style. Next to Boddy's impressive solo career stands his collaborative live performance and studio efforts with several of Electronic Music's most innovative and interesting personalities including: Ron Boots, Chris Carter, Andy Pickford, Robert Rich, Markus Reuter, Erik Wollo, David Wright and the ongoing project ARC with Mark Shreeve…
