Jazz vocalist Janet Planet releases an album of Bob Dylan songs that features thirteen of Mr. Dylan’s compositions from the 1960’s. Ms. Planet is most influenced by lyrics, and in constant quest to connect the meaning, physicality and musicality of words. Like many other jazz and cabaret singers, Janet Planet has drawn from the “American Songbook” for material, but as an artist she is continually reaching beyond traditional boundaries for inspiration. Janet was drawn to the concept of a “Dylan Songbook” not only for the poetic value of Dylan’s work but also for the musical challenge his melodies posed for a jazz musician…

Before the world knew Bob Dylan, songs were inevitably about a boy-girl relationship or about dancing. Due to his folk background, Bob Dylan songs had a poetic and existential lyric content which after him was incorporated into rock culture. That's how we can find among Dylan fans legendary artists such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jack White and even Guns N'Roses, who achieved great success with their own version of Knockin' On Heaven's Door. In the Many Faces of Bob Dylan we present: in the first two CDs, 28 new versions by the artist, a real treasure that now is available to his fans. In addition, CD 3 is dedicated to the Greenwich Village scene that gave birth to his career, with artists like Joan Baez and Dave Van Ronk. The Many Faces Of Bob Dylan is an essential album both for his countless fans and for anyone interested in the evolution of popular music for the last 50 years.

If Blood on the Tracks was an unapologetically intimate affair, Desire is unwieldy and messy, the deliberate work of a collective. And while Bob Dylan directly addresses his crumbling relationship with his wife, Sara, on the final track, Desire is hardly as personal as its predecessor, finding Dylan returning to topical songwriting and folk tales for the core of the record…

The official release of The Basement Tapes – which were first heard on a 1968 bootleg called The Great White Wonder – plays with history somewhat, as Robbie Robertson overemphasizes the Band's status in the sessions, making them out to be equally active to Dylan, adding in demos not cut at the sessions and overdubbing their recordings to flesh them out…

Following on the heels of an album where he repudiated his past with his greatest backing band, Blood on the Tracks finds Bob Dylan, in a way, retreating to the past, recording a largely quiet, acoustic-based album. But this is hardly nostalgia – this is the sound of an artist returning to his strengths, what feels most familiar, as he accepts a traumatic situation, namely the breakdown of his marriage…
