Thank God the producers of this cd didn't decide to burry the recordings in reverb and echo, we get the TRUE 78 sound here, and it sounds clean, and chystal clear. Ignore the spiteful reviewer who thinks the sound is bad. Les Browns has never soudned so clear on cd before, you can actually hear every note, because they didn'r "over-remaster." All of Brown's ESSENTIAL sonsg are here, including My Dreams Are Getting Better All The Time. Brown had one of the freshest bands around in the mid-forties, and he had the greatest girl singer in Doris Day (the worlds most underrated jazz singer). This cd is a God-send to those who really want to hear the msuic unfiltered, yet clearly and beuatifully.

Cut as the Beatles were disintegrating and released shortly before the group's final album, Let It Be, Ringo Starr's debut solo album was a collection of pre-rock standards dating from the 1920s to the '50s, sung over orchestral tracks arranged by everyone from fellow Beatle Paul McCartney and Bee Gee Maurice Gibb to jazz veterans Quincy Jones and Oliver Nelson. Starr brought a good-natured, nearly humorous tone to his vocals, perhaps because he wasn't trying to compete with the classic pop stylists most identified with these songs, but only to express his nostalgic affection for the material. Coming more than a decade before the fad for standards albums by rock-era pop stars like Linda Ronstadt…

The Cobb of Blue and Sentimental release combines two 1960 Prestige sessions, one of ballads and the other uptempo cookers. He meets up with pianist Red Garland’s group of JC Heard/dr and George Tucker-George Duvivier/b and hits the road running on “Sizzlin’” and a take of “Sweet Georgia Brown” that will get you on the basketball court in no time. Cobb was made for ballads, however, and he gives it all he’s got on the rarely performed Sinatra associated tunes “PS I Love You” and “Why Try To Change Me Now.” If I could play like this…..

The 50 songs that grace this 2CD package certainly qualify as ‘Easy Listening’ - but in the best possible way. Before, during, and long after rock & roll was supposed to have dispatched these artists, the quality of their artistry and songs lives on. And indeed, shows no sign of disappearing. Enjoy this superb 2 CD set including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole and many more.

The author of this unique art project, Nikita Mikhalkov, presents to the viewers the works of his favorite 19th-century painters. We shall see a whole panorama of artistic trends and tastes of the period, learn about amazing life stories of the painters and their subjects, the history of creation of the masterpieces of Russian painting, and get a broad picture of Russian culture, particularly the culture of painting. Thanks to a deeply personal, involved presentation of the material, a lively, ingenuous intonation, the paintings of the talented Russian artists will come so close to us that we’ll be able to hear “the music of Russian painting” and understand what perhaps was hidden due to our, sometimes superficial, momentary perception. And, as a result, get a gratifying sense of association with the unique heritage of our great country and the proud feeling of being part of its great people and history.
