Swedish ambient duo Carbon Based Lifeforms was founded in Gothenburg in 1996 by Daniel Ringström & Johannes Hedberg, initially as an offshoot of Notch, their group with Mikael Lindqvist. 1998 album The Path (initially released as a Notch recording) combined atmospheric synthesizers, downtempo beats, acid basslines from a Roland TB-303, didgeridoo, and field recordings. The album was released under the CBL moniker as The Phat #000001/The Phat #000002 online in 1999.

Carbon Based Lifeforms (CBL) are Johannes Hedberg and Daniel Segerstad, both born in 1976 and based in Göteborg, south-west Sweden. They met at the tender age of 15 and are still, amazingly, working happily together. It is hard to categorise CBL's music but the best description might be that of a groundbreaking mixture of acid, techno and house music. The term 'acid/ambient' has also been coined; perhaps a respectful nod to the great pioneer Brian Eno? CBL signed with the celebrated Lyon-based Ultimae label in 2002 and have since released two full-length albums (Hydroponic Garden in 2003, and World of Sleepers in 2006). Both albums have been extraordinarily well received by connoisseurs within the ambient scene…

The founders of Carbon Based Lifeforms Johann and Daniel were born in 1976 in Gothenburg, Sweden. We met in 1991, as a schoolboy. In 1994 they, together with Mikael Lindquist started writing tracker music called Bassment Studios. In 1995 they began to write music with midi and changed their name to Notch, and came up with his nicknames: Johann - GioNic, Daniel - TiN, and Michael - Miguel. By the way, their demo album in '98 «The Path» is often mistakenly credited with authorship still in its infancy then Carbon Based Lifeforms.

This book shows the recent advances of the applications of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), in particular, the polymer functionalized carbon nanotubes. It also includes a comprehensive description of carbon nanotubes' preparation, properties, and characterization. Authors have attempted to provide detailed information about the polymer-carbon nanotube composites.
