In 2006 with the ever looming dangers of the underworld in Malaysia, Don broke the morale of his associates by infiltrating the gang with an alias and taking advantage of the enmity of Singhania & Vardhaan. He rose to become the undisputed King of the underworld with his shrewd mind and merciless tactics. The police in their pursuit of Don unknowingly hired the very man they were trying to hunt. Don used this to his advantage and let the police and his former associates battle each other while he escaped much to the bewilderment of everyone leaving no traces of evidence of his whereabouts……

First time reissue of this forgotten album of Don Cherry. This album was recorded in 1978 in Paris and released only in France in1981. That was the first meeting between Don Cherry and Indian percussionist Latif Khan and the result is an incredible mixture of jazz and Indian music. This unsung album is only known by hardcore fans of Don cherry who considered it as one of his best effort.

All India Radio Archival Release: Sarod (Vols. 1-9) is a nine volume series of compilation discs by sarod musician Ali Akbar Khan. These discs were sold individually but I have gathered all nine volumes here as one. They are taken from recordings performed on All India Radio primarily from the 1960's but also including one from 1956, most of which hadn't been heard outside of India until these compilations were assembled. Released in 1997, this series was released on compact disc in 2001.

If Eternal Rhythm was Don Cherry's world fusion masterpiece of the '60s, then Brown Rice is its equivalent for the '70s. But where Eternal Rhythm set global influences in a free jazz framework, Brown Rice's core sound is substantially different, wedding Indian, African, and Arabic music to Miles Davis' electrified jazz-rock innovations. And although purists will likely react here the same way they did to post-Bitches Brew Davis, Brown Rice is a stunning success by any other standard. By turns hypnotic and exhilarating, the record sounds utterly otherworldly: the polyrhythmic grooves are deep and driving, the soloing spiritual and free, and the plentiful recording effects trippy and mysterious.

Guitarist Steve Khan sounds quite laid-back throughout this set, even when soloing at his most passionate. He is featured in a wide variety of material and fares quite well in each setting. With bassist John Patitucci sometimes taking solo honors, Khan explores a Latinized version of "I Mean You" and an obscure Ornette Coleman tune ("Mr. and Mrs. People"), has features for flugelhornist Randy Brecker ("Face Value") and bass clarinetist Bob Mintzer (the Bitches Brew-inspired "El Faquir"), and modernizes one of his father's songs ("You're My Girl").

Parting Shot represents a most special moment for Steve, because it is the first time that he has felt ready to present an entire recording dedicated to Latin Jazz. Anthony Jackson, Manolo Badrena, and Steve are together yet again, alongside their bandmate of 20 years, Dennis Chambers, where, joined by master Latin musicians, Marc Quinones and Bobby Allende, they have crafted these 10 pieces of music. It is their hope that everyone will enjoy the recording to the fullest.
