Santana-Amigos (1976) QUADRAPHONIC MIX on DVD-A 96/24 and DTS CD 44.1/16

Santana-Amigos (1976)
DVD-A Only ISO + DTS CD | 96/24 4.0 LPCM | ISO 1 x 190,7 MB + 170 MB | DTS 4 x 100 MB
Genre: Rock | Label: Columbia PCQ 33576 | Source: SQ LP (software decoded)

This one is a very strange Quad mix. It was the only Santana Quad mix not to be released on Quad 8track.
Some claim it's a fake Quad mix, but I have pinpointed a few moments that there are guitars in the rears and keyboards in the front sharing the same frequencies, so the veredict is open.
As it is , I don't think they would have even bothered with a fake quad mix.
It features a song that I always liked as a kid and somehow I had NEVER heard on the radio or anywhere else until I bought this LP 2 years ago! "See the Light".
Even so, the sonics are spectacular and the wash of reverb in "Dance Sister Dance"is great!
As with all Santana releases, the percussion makes this a wonderful Surround experience.Brought to you in Separate files, in BOTH:Hi Resolution DVD-Audio (ONLY-no Dolby or DTS DVD);
and for those without DVD-A players, a DTS CD 44.1/16 version.
Sibelius- Finlandia and Tone Poems-Cond. Herbert Von Karajan Quadraphonic DTS-CD

SIBELIUS "Finlandia" (Tone Poems): Berliner Philharmoniker cond. Herbert Von Karajan (1976)
DTS CD (cue + wav) | Channels: 4.0 | 44100Hz | 4 x 100 MB + 78 MB | Covers included
Genre: Classical | Source: SQ encoded CD | Label: EMI

Most of these EMI recordings from the 1970's were released ONLY as SQ encoded LPs and CD, since their compatibility made them totally enjoyable in Stereo.
The Von Karajan sessions were legendary because the Maestro himself used to assist and produce these Quadraphonic mixdowns-he was VERY MUCH into Multichannel.
Mahavishnu Orchestra-Between Nothingness and Eternity DVD-A only + DTS CD (1973)

DVD-A Only ISO + DTS CD (Image + Front & Back Covers) | 96/24 4.0 LPCM | DTS: 44.1/16
ISO 13 x 190,7 MB + 119 MB | DTS CD: 2 x 200MB + 127 KB
Genre: Jazz Fusion | Label: Columbia CQ-32766 | Source: SQ LP

Between Nothingness and Eternity is the first live album and last with the original line-up, released in 1973. It was recorded live at the Schaefer Music Festival, held in Central Park, New York on Aug 17 and 18, 1973. It features the material from the then unreleased album which surfaced in 1999, as "The Lost Trident Sessions".
For being a NYC audience they behaved quite well, not being very noisy or rowdy.
The Music here is Mahavishnu at its best.

Mahavishnu Orchestra: Birds of Fire DTS CD

Mahavishnu Orchestra: Birds of Fire DTS CD

Mahavishnu Orchestra: Birds of Fire DTS CD
DTS CD (cue + wav) | Source - Quad Q8 | 398 MB | Channels: 4.0 Samplerate: 44100
Jazz - Fusion | Label: Columbia CAQ-31996 |1972 | RS.com

Emboldened by the popularity of Inner Mounting Flame among rock audiences, the first Mahavishnu Orchestra set out to further define and refine its blistering jazz-rock direction in its second studio album. Although it has much of the screaming rock energy and sometimes exaggerated competitive frenzy of its predecessor, Birds of Fire is audibly more varied in texture, even more tightly organized, and thankfully more musical in content.

Herbie Hancock "Sextant" Quad SQ LP to DTS CD 4.0

Herbie Hancock "Sextant" Quad SQ LP to DTS CD 4.0

Herbie Hancock-"Sextant"(1972)
DTS CD (cue + wav) | Channels: 4.0 | 44100Hz | 2x 200 MB
Genre: Jazz/Avant-Garde | Label:Columbia CQ-32212 | Source: SQ LP | RS.com

Now , this is a welcome surprise. Before listening to this LP, I had no idea Mr. Hancock was creating this kind of music back then. This is Avant-Garde with some jazz thrown in-VERY left field when compared to his 80's stuff. This LP was a very bad pressing so it took many weeks of de-clicking restoration, done by hand of course (SQ LP rear channel info waveforms are helical and therefore , the algorithms of the declicking programs are not programmed for these kind of signals), so please enjoy.
Also, as in all of my conversions , Noise reduction was NOT used.

Their best Quad mix from the 70s, featuring circling galloping horses, some out of tune background singing and plenty of illegal substance in your face guitar solos, which , unfortunately has taught us that those were the real Aerosmith, not the post "Permanent Vacation" group-We love ya Steven!…Enjoy!

(btw, a Hi Res version is coming soon - k'n k)

Debussy in Surround, 1970's style (i.e., QUAD) recorded in France , interpreted by a French Orchestra and conducted by the late great Jean Martinon (yes, French).
La Mer, Nocturnes and the rest come alive in 3-D sound!
Stravinsky-Rite of Spring-Z Mehta-Quadraphonic mix in DTS CD 44.1/16

Igor Stravinsky- Rite of Spring- New York Philharmonic, cond. Zubin Mehta DTS CD (1978)
DTS CD (cue + wav) | Channels: 4.0 | 44100Hz | 3 x 100 MB + 5 MB | Covers included
Genre: Classical | Source: SQ encoded CD | Label: CBS

This Quad mix is more "open" than the EMI ones, the instruments are easier to localize. It seems that Good ole' Igor actually composed this to have a surround feast happening
in front of him (or the conductor).Another 1970's, this time, late 70's SQ encoded LP master from a 1987 cd issue. As with the EMI people, these guys' definition of the SPARS code was quite dubious to say the least. The middle initial stands for MIXDOWN, which they didn't, unless they used the SQ encoders from then…but- their sloppiness is our advantage….
