The original Yeh-Yeh Girl, Françoise Hardy's singing career began with a brilliant self-titled debut in 1962. The album encapsulated Hardy's coy, dreamlike, and beautifully melancholic sonic persona with a collection of 11 mostly original songs. The album featured a few hits, including the particularly notable "Tous les Garçons et les Filles," which sold millions as a single. This repackaging of the original album also includes Canta per Voi in Italiano, an album issued shortly after the debut with some of its songs and additional numbers re-recorded in Italian. While the original album is a classic of French pop, '60s AM magic, and of course a forerunner of the yeh-yeh (aka yé-yé) sound, the additional tracks in Italian are a sweet counterpart.

Françoise Madeleine Hardy (born 17 January 1944) is a French singer, actress and astrologer. Hardy is an iconic figure in fashion, music and style. She grew up in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, the daughter of an unmarried mother. She received a guitar on her sixteenth birthday as a reward for passing her baccalaureat. After a year at the Sorbonne she answered a newspaper advertisement looking for young singers. Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after finishing school, her first record "Oh Oh Chéri" appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous les garçons et les filles" became a success, riding the wave of Yé-yé music in France. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc…

Jennifer Scott's debut album, Le temps de l'amour, reflects a musical archeology that began in years of classical piano, expanded into French and Spanish vocals, and culminated in a kaleidoscope of French and Latin music that evokes the unpretentious glamour of the 60’s. The soft, haunting melodies of Françoise Hardy and Astrud Gilberto receive new life in an album that shifts effortlessly from Paris and bossa nova to neo-tango and Cuban classics. Yet the cosmopolitan feel of the tracks sound just as wonderful in the park, at the beach or at home with friends. A jolt of champagne to kick off spring!

Recording direct-to-disk is difficult enough. The entire side has to be cut in one long take. Consider a big band vocal album like this, which has four songs per side. The orchestra and singer have to be ready as soon as the cutting stylus hits the lacquer and then they have to perform flawlessly on each track, pausing but a few seconds between songs. Often these records sound stilted and mannered as no one wants to produce a "clam" and ruin the whole thing but here everything works perfectly, with the mellifluous Clare Teal backed by The Syd Lawrence Orchestra brash and brassy ensemble. Incredibly, it was ll rehearsed, mixed and cut to lacquer at Air Studios in one day!, under the supervision of producer Mike Valentine and co-producer Françoise Valentine. So first, who is Clare Teal? She's well-known in the U.K.
