The cantata Nanjing Lament was originally composed for piano, alto and chorus when commissioned for the
sixtieth anniversary of the occupation of the city of Nanjing by the Japanese. That original version had its premiere at a Concert for Peace on December 7, 1997 at Carnegie Hall in New York. The Chinese National Symphony commissioned Jin to rewrite the cantata for full orchestra. The new version was scored for orchestra, pipa, dizi, children's chorus and regular chorus. It is this version that is presented here.

Long queues formed outside record stores throughout Asia when Deutsche Grammophon rush-released its recording of live highlights from Seong-Jin Cho’s performances at the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition. The South Korean pianist stormed the album charts in countries across the region last November, securing his status among classical music’s brightest rising stars and attracting worldwide critical acclaim. His first studio recording for the yellow label, set for international release on Friday 25 November, presents the compelling coupling of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1 in E minor and the same composer’s Four Ballades, works at the heart of the 22-year-old artist’s repertoire. “This really is dream repertoire for me,” notes Cho, who fell in love with the Ballades as a child after hearing Krystian Zimerman’s recording of the works for Deutsche Grammophon.

Round House are a five piece instrumental progressive rock band, with roots firmly in Camel although they do use the twin guitar interplay to fine effect and even manage to come across as Wishbone Ash at times. The debut album was originally released at the end of 1978, with the first three tracks recorded in a studio and the other two recorded 'live' (for this reissue there is one more track from the same period). The sound quality does very somewhat, and isn't as good as it could be at times (the bass is particularly low in the mix throughout), but when they are blasting out as on "Tour Of The Deep Ocean" then this is very fine indeed…
