Hendrik Varju has come out with another DVD. This time it’s about routers. Using Your Router and Router Table Safely covers a lot of ground starting with what features to look for in a router and router table. The DVD provides enough detail so you can build your own router table based on the one Varju uses. You’ll also learn about different router bits, how to rout rabbets and dados, and how to safely deal with climb cutting. At over 8 hours, the DVD provides a lot of important information, and as in his other DVDs, you’ll learn the techniques in real time. Varju doesn’t cut out important steps so it’s like having “Private Woodworking Instruction in a Box”.
Working with Plywood by Hendrik Varju begins with a planning session for a simple bookcase. This session is more than just about design: it includes drawings, dimensions of all the parts, and a review of how to plan the plywood panel sections from a full sheet of plywood. From there, some of the topics covered in the DVD include ways to apply edging, cut rabbets to fit the back panels, and how to fit and cut cross rails. In the end, the DVD shows you how to build the bookcase from the initial design to the final glue-up. And the glue-up is filmed in real time - no editing - so you’ll see all that goes into the process.
