Performing is like meditation, Johannes says, With total mental, physical and spiritual concentration, the music emerges pure and without restraint. It's heaven. A slice of heaven is delivered to listeners each time the evolving, self-taught Toronto, Canada, guitarist performs his original compositions with virtuoso speed and brilliance. In addition to his mastery of the Spanish guitar, Johannes is also an accomplished pianist and performs instruments as diverse as the bazouki, wood flute, mandolin and bass. Johannes' work is deeply rooted in the South American and Caribbean cultures he experienced while on a spiritual journey of personal and artistic awakening. Influences from his travels to Spain, the Caribbean Islands and Latin America shaped his profound respect for life and moved him to create new musical soundscapes.

Pavlo is a composer, a musician, a guitarist and a recording artist. He composes in a style of music best described as 'Mediterranean music'. A music that combines influences of Flamenco, Latin, Classical and Mediterranean guitar mixed together with the Greek Bouzouki.

"For the first time I wrote a piece of music that was suddenly accompanied by lyrics. I am not one to deny the flow of creation, so I went with it. Not realizing I had a singing voice, I went into the studio and sang my heart out. The result…I Feel Love Again." ~Pavlo

Yes’ original songs in the nineties were greatly uneven. But the Keystudio material from the middle of the decade was a good but tentative step back to progressive rock and Open Your Eyes was more of a Chris Squire solo album. The Ladder has a unity of vision and performance that makes it one of their best albums of the nineties. Having producer Bruce Fairbairn motivate and stimulate the band helped greatly.

It was meditativeness, fantasy and individuality which have always been part of Johannes Heil´s productions. It is not only the music which stands in the foreground for Johannes Heil, but also the integration of strong words and images - always different and mystical, against the current and diverse in terms of style. Whether in the vocals or the title techno can by all means have a message as long as it is not forced upon the listener. The kick-off for his career as a producer was the correlation with DJ Heiko Laux, who played techno music far from the big cities in the Kanzleramt bistro in Bad-Nauheim. The small project rapidly expanded and aside the big trends - the Kanzleramt label with its sublabels U-Turn and K2O evolved…

Upbeat, refined, and congenial as ever, Cafe Tropical is the sixth release from Canadian-born guitarist Johannes Linstead; and like the others before it, it's a crisply performed, easy-to-like collection of nouveau flamenco destined to brighten the atmosphere, particularly at summer patio parties. Linstead, principally playing Spanish guitar (plus keyboards and assorted percussion with contributions from 10 other instrumentalists) is a nimble guitarist and tasteful composer who tones down flamenco's most incendiary tendencies just enough to create lively, feel-good melodies with suitable-for-all-audiences intentions. Prime examples: the disc's warm, soulful opener, "Cien Fuegos," and the trumpet-fueled title track, a piece that closely parallels "Mango" from 2001's Guitarra del Fuego.

The notion of flamenco music approached in a polite, genteel manner may sound inherently contradictory to some, but Canadian-born guitarist Johannes Linstead accomplishes the task with admirable grace and poise. As with his four previous recordings, Linstead's Mediterranea is short on the fire, sweat, and florid technique found in the work of Jesse Cook and other nouveau flamenco contemporaries. Instead, Linstead leans more on heart, melodicism, and adroit fingering to craft a lively yet dignified sound that, while perhaps tame to some ears, elevates his instrumentals beyond simple easy-listening fare. Linstead (Spanish guitar, bouzouki, keyboards) is an accomplished player (for evidence, consider his energized licks on "Sangre del Toro") whose arrangements create a colorful, accessible sound well-suited to listeners with a taste for what could be termed "smooth flamenco."
