Originally broadcast on radio in France more than five decades ago, these long-lost tracks were unearthed in the vaults of the ORTF (Office of French Radio and Television, now Maison de Radio France) and are available for the first time on this album. The iconic jazz organist is joined on 1964 and 1965 studio and live recordings by Woody Shaw on trumpet, bandleader Nathan Davis on saxophone and drummer Billy Brooks, plus guest musicians from France, Italy and other countries. Among the many highlights is an over 20 minute version of “Zoltan” that would reappear on Young's classic Unity LP.

The Eleventh House during 1972-1975 was one of the stronger working groups in fusion, led by one of the unsung heroes of the idiom, guitarist Larry Coryell. This CD reissue brings back the Eleventh House's first recording and, in addition to Coryell's guitar, most heavily featured are trumpeter Randy Brecker (who would later be replaced by Mike Lawrence) and keyboardist Mike Mandel; bassist Danny Trifan and drummer Alphonse Mouzon are strong in backup roles…

For the past four decades, a growing cult of soul music collectors have sought two obscure LPs and a handful of extremely rare 45s released on the vanity record label LAD Productions, Inc. between the late seventies and the mid eighties by the mysterious South Side Chicago singer/song writer Larry Dixon. Larry’s raw songs capture the transition from R&B to boogie-down as disco was rapidly becoming extinct. They also perfectly illustrate Larry’s ability to overcome his environment and discrimination, transcended by his determination to write and produce music. With the support of his faithful musicians, Larry’s success was only hindered by lack of airplay and promotion, but his talent shines through.

Graham nods to 80s dance music on "I Feel Good" and the title track (present in vocal and instrumental mixes), using a variety of special effects - overamplified fingersnaps, pitch-wheeled synth, and most criminally, Moog bass - that just scream "1982!" Otherwise it's basically a mix of Just Be My Lady mawkishness ("Let Me Come Into Your Life"; "You're My Girl") and Star Walk underwritten jams ("Don't Stop When You're Hot"). George Duke produced two cuts, the ballad "Still Thinkin' Of You" and the jive, slap-pop funk "Walk Baby Walk," and it's a very bad sign that his work is no worse than Graham's... that's what they call in the finance biz a "negative leading indicator."

The year is 1897, except for one thing: warfare is fought in large steam-powered fighting machines called "steam rigs", manned by crews, designed to look like ancient armored warriors. It's a classic underdog tale; three "regular guy" steam crewmen, Tunney, Duff and Cribbs, reckless, brazen-lacking common sense, but not courage-manage to come through by entirely unorthodox means. Steam Wars is blue-collar sci fi, down and dirty grittiness, contrasted with Victorian elegance.
