The Winter Tree is the new moniker for the American outfit formerly known as Magus. Both are the main creative vehicle for composer/musician Andrew Laitres, and his latest collaborators Deb Bond (keyboards) and Mark Bond (vocals and guitars). Magus dates back to the mid 1980s and has many full length releases, but in 2010 Andrew changed the name to The Winter Tree after a song from one of his favorite bands, Renaissance. The self-titled debut album was released in 2011. Soft symphonic art rock with nods in the direction of folk music is what The Winter Tree explores on their debut album, music pastoral in spirit and expression, emphasizing gentle moods and careful melodies in a manner that should appeal well beyond the art rock universe…
Neil Diamond's five-decade career as a singer, songwriter, and performer has certainly been a successful one by any standard. He’s sold well over 115 million records worldwide to date and has had eight number one singles ("Cracklin Rosie," "Song Sung Blue," "Desiree," "You Don't Bring Me Flowers," "Love on the Rocks," "America," "Yesterday's Songs," and "Heartlight"), and if he hasn't always generated the kind of critical respect he probably deserves, he’s been a steady and dependable artist who has managed to keep his large core audience happy. This 23-track set surveys the whole of Diamond's recording career, collecting his key and signature sides, beginning with his first hits for Bang Records in the mid-'60s through his commercial peak for Uni/MCA between 1968 and 1972, cuts from 1980’s The Jazz Singer (a soundtrack album that went platinum five times over on Capitol Records), and ending with tracks from Diamond's two Rick Rubin-produced albums, 2005’s 12 Songs and 2008’s Home Before Dark, on Columbia Records.
Light Coorporation were formed as a five-piece Polish experimental ensemble (featuring guitar, fretless bass, drums, violin, baritone and alto sax, with guest keyboard and electronics) for shooting progressive rock blended with freely-improvised/avantgarde jazz. They say their performance combines music with projection of visual clips. The combination of Progressive music of the 70's with the Free Jazz & Avant-garde, ushers the audience into a unique climate of the band's music. In 2011 they've launched their debut release "Rare Dialect" via a renowned RIO distributor ReR Megacorp.
Gaps. We hate them. We admit it, we’re completists, and we can’t tolerate inaccurate personnel logs, song edits imposed on artists, or sessions split up over scattered LPs. We’re compelled to jump in and fix the errors and re-create mis-handled recording dates. Our Stan Getz Quintet box with Jimmy Raney – one of Mosaic’s earliest sets and out of print nearly 20 years – was an example of our efforts to clean-up an important body of music that over time had been re-issued haphazardly, and with substandard sound. More recently, when we learned that Getz’s Norgran Studio recordings were coming out on CD, we thought: - shouldn’t LP enthusiasts get the Clef/Norgran set in full, sumptuous Mosaic editions, on 180-gram audiophile LP?
