Luis Salinas is one of the best jazz guitarists in today's music world… this CD is a very Benson-esque smooth jazz delight with both electric & nylon string acoustic guitar sounds soloing over a beauty-fully produced latin/funk rhythm section… the whole CD is wonder-fully consistant & a smooth glide thru a grrreat selection of original tunes… Salinas' vocals are also on this CD on a few tracks & it's easy to compare CDs like this to Benson's best material… i still prefer Luis' "Solo Guitarra" CD to hear all of his many talents & influences BUT Rosario is a grrreat smooooth jazz cruise thru funky latino grooves !!! do yourself a favor & discover this tremendous jazz guitarist.

New Age, New Flamenco, Instr. guitar

This is the debut album from this great guitar player from Salamanca (Spain). He's difficult to categorize. Some refers him as a new age musician, instrumental guitar or New flamenco, but he's much more as he's able to blend world, jazz, flamenco or even pop rythms in wonderful sounding spanish guitar. Very nice to hear, a beautiful disc. Recommended!

A powerful and organic fusion of Latin jazz and flamenco. a hugely dynamic record with moments of great delicacy, but when they unleash a unison barrage the intensity is nothing short of overwhelming. "Spain" won the 2000 Latin Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album.

Back in 1995 US outfit Eyewitness were one of the first signings of UK melodic rock label Now & Then Records. Formed by ex-Death guitarist Ralph Santolla, the Tampa-based foursome were completed by singer Todd Plant, drummer Oliver Hanson and bassist Steve Hodson. Their debut album was a fine slice of European sounding melodic metal, with soaring vocals and some fine lead playing from Santolla.

America/Brasil is a rollicking, celebratory album that keeps Herbie Mann on the winning streak he started with the release of Peace Pieces in 1995. Recorded during a week of concerts to mark his 65th birthday in April 1995, this disc is much stronger than its immediate predecessor, Celebration, also taken from the same week of live concert performances at New York's Blue Note jazz club. The material here is superb, and the playing top-notch. As the title implies, the emphasis here is on Mann's Brazilian side, but there are touches of the non-Brazilian with Bill Evans' "Peri's Scope" and Miles Davis' "All Blues." "Summertime" is recast in an Afro-Cuban mode with Paquito D'Rivera sharing the solo space on alto sax. However, lengthy Brazilian showstoppers are placed at the beginning, middle, and end of this wonderful disc. The opening "Keep the Spirits Singing" is propelled by the polyrhythmic pulse of percussionists Cyro Baptista and "Café," and the 17-minute title track finale features trumpeters Randy Brecker and Claudio Roditi, trombonist Jim Pugh, and guitarist Romero Lubambo.

Deluxe Edition rounds up 15 highlights from Lonnie Brooks' late-'70s and '80s recordings for Alligator. Like many Alligator artists, Brooks made records that were just a little too slick to demonstrate the depth of his talents and the grittiness of his playing, yet they still remained solid, rock-inflected contemporary blues albums. The bulk of the highlights from his records are here, making it a fine introduction to Brooks' most popular recordings.

HAPPY is the first Real Life album release since LIFETIME which spawned the hit 'God Tonight' in 1990. The album verges more on industrial darkwave than synthpop and it is fitting that its content finds them anything but happy. This is a dark, brooding record, but one which would craft the persona of Real Life for the next decade. Still very hook-laden, still very danceable – but darker, more ominous and definitively more goth.
