This is Roland Grapow's first solo album outside the ranks of his band Helloween. For this album he is joined by fellow Helloween band members Uli Kusch and Markus Grosskopf as well as keyboardist Ferdy Doernberg from Axel Rudi Pell fame. The album while not dissimilar to Helloween's work is in more of a traditional neo-classical vein, and carries a strong Malmsteen vibe with it.
Gone are the days of Windows, Animation, and The Altar, all of which had a happy sort of lilt to them. "Crossing the Line" may not be the most original metal album around, but its sincerity and its uncompromising execution make this one of the more enjoyable heavy power metal records.
This is the third MVP album. MVP is logically Michael Vescera Project, where he is joined by a lot of famous people like Roland Grapow (Helloween), Mike Clashiak (Halford), Jim Bell (David Wayne's Metal Church) and many more. Vescera takes care that his vocals come out clear and strong. The many involved guitar players guarantee a melodic but also surprisingly heavy sound, which is emphasised by the gloomy cover artwork and song titles like Crucified, The Altar and On Our Way (To Hell).
1999's "Animation" was the second album from MVP (Mike Vescera Project). Vescera, of course, is best known as the singer from Obsession, and his stints with Loudness and Yngwie Malmsteen. He’s joined here by guitarists Roland Grapow (Masterplan, ex-Helloween), Roy Z (Halford, Bruce Dickinson) and Joe Stump (Reign of Terror).
"World On Fire" is the 20th studio album by virtuoso guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and was released on June 1st, 2016. The Swedish guitarist says he spent two years working on the record between tours - which he says made the songwriting process "inspiring." So once again we have a masterpiece by The Master that will be exalted up by fans and guitar maniacs which will go down as a classic Malmsteen release.
This is Helloween guitarist Roland Grapow's second solo album. His first, "The Four Seasons Of Life" was a respectable neo-classical release that contained a lot of guitar work. This release is a bit more song orientated, and what a band Roland has to back him up! Basically this is Yngwie's "Magnum Opus" band minus the Maestro himself and Mats Olausson. Yes, that's right, Mike Vescera lends his golden lungs and the ace rhythm section of Barry Sparks and Mike Terrana create a powerhouse of solid backing throughout. Add to this the keyboard expertise of Ferdy Doernberg (Axel Rudi Pell fame) and you have a bit of a supergroup happening; even Jens Johannson throws in his fleeting fingers on a couple of tracks.
Vocalist Michael Vescera is no stranger to fans of melodic hard rock and heavy metal. In his early career he was the front man for Obsession. Then Japanese legends Loudness call upon him and he became the first western vocalist for the band. He later moved on to sing for shredder Yngwie Malmsteen. In the meantime to the present he's found time to form his own band, MVP, work with Dr. Sin, Roland Grapow (Helloween, Masterplan), The Reign Of Terror (Joe Stump) as well as running his own studio and producing other acts. Experience, time and a busy schedule has not dulled one bit of Mr. Vescera's great vocals. 'A Sign Of Things To Come' proves his strength and viability.
Joe Stump's Reign of Terror and "Sacred Ground" features some of the most impressive Euro melodic power metal in memory. Joining up the talents of guitar master Joe Stump and x-Yngwie, Loudness vocalist Mike Vescera has proved to be a very lethal combination. Most great metal bands throughout history have always had that explosive duo of a super guitar player and excellent vocalist. The Reign of Terror now joins that elite list.
The Czech Republic's Sebastien has gone through many trials, including band name and personnel changes over 10 years, to get to their release of their debut album Tears of White Roses. Yet with the strength of label Escape Music behind them and the enthusiastic support of Roland Grapow (Masterplan, ex-Helloween), Sebastien should be on the cusp of greatness. A strong supporting cast in the studio doesn't hurt either. Participants include Amanda Somerville (Avantasia, Aina, Kiske/Somerville), Apollo Papathanasio (Firewind, Spiritual Beggars), Doogie White (Cornerstone, ex-Rainbow, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen), Fabio Lione (Rhapsody Of Fire, Vision Divine), Mike DiMeo (The Lizards, ex-Riot, ex-Masterplan), Roland Grapow (Masterplan, ex-Helloween), and Tore Moren (Jorn).
