Waltz Club album by Didier Lockwood was released Mar 27, 2006 on the Universal Distribution label. Waltz Club CD music contains a single disc with 16 songs. The accordion and violin are the favorite instruments of jazz in French. Stephane Grappelli and Marcel Azzola are two of the pioneers of this tradition. I paid tribute to Stephane Grappelli in my "Tribute to Stephane Grappelli" and I could not forget the "Great" Marcel Azzola with beaded and poetic phrasing…

Jazz, Smooth Jazz | MP3 320 kbps CBR | 57 min | 132 MB
Label: Columbia | Rel: 2001

Martin Taylor has done his share of label-hopping; after recording for labels that range from Linn to Milestone/Fantasy, the guitarist joins the Columbia roster with 2001's Nitelife. Produced by Steve Buckingham and Kirk Whalum, Nitelife is one of Taylor's more commercial efforts. Jazz is often blended with pop and R&B, and much of the CD is obviously aimed at the NAC/smooth jazz market. But Nitelife isn't without integrity. Although uneven and inconsistent – there are a few throwaways here and there – the album has more plusses than minuses. Nitelife's most memorable offerings range from the Celtic-influenced "Across the Pond" (a Taylor original) to sensitive interpretations of Hoagy Carmichael's "I Get Along Without You Very Well" and Edith Piaf's "Hymne a l'Amour" (a French standard that American jazz artists have tended to overlook).

Martin Taylor's earliest recordings have long been difficult to acquire, but they finally reappeared in 2006 on this P3Music CD reissue. The masterful guitarist was already a dazzling player in 1983, when the solo performances on this disc were recorded. Taylor intended his tribute to incorporate the spirit, warmth, and humor of Art Tatum, without trying to duplicate the legendary pianist's pyrotechnics on guitar, which would have been impossible, in any case…
