Deluxe 71 disc box set that contains 52 single CD and double CD albums (which includes the previously unreleased full-length audio version of his 1970 Isle Of Wight performance). The essay is complemented by brief annotations written by Franck Bergerot, covering every single one of the 52 albums. The cornerstones of the box set are the studio and live albums that were released during his tenure at the label, more than 40 titles that he recorded in the 1950s, '60s, '70s and '80s.

Rare deluxe compilation that sounds and looks in all ways amazing. Some great picks on here in Miles' own Deception, Gerry Mulligan's Jeru or Baden Powell's Budo for starters. Lovely audophile piece in lovely taste.
Miles Davis published more than 40 albums during his lifetime. The classics "Kind Of Blue", "Sketches Of Spain" and "Bitches Brew" should have even less jazz-interested listeners in their collection. "Miles Deep" now approaches the big man's work on sidewalks: through fantastic live versions and less well-known studios.

Until now, the official recordings of Miles Davis' performances at the Fillmore East between June 17 and 20, 1970 have been limited to the double album Miles at the Fillmore. That set's producer Teo Macero, edited the recordings to create medleys of each night's music to four roughly 20-minute selections. This four-disc set contains all four concerts. There are 100 minutes of previously unreleased music from Wednesday through Saturday; an additional 35 minutes of unreleased music comes from a previous gig at the Fillmore West.
On 10 July 1991, barely two months before his death, Miles played a remarkable concert at La Villette in Paris. It was remarkable because Miles did something he normally avoided: looking back.

Along with its sister recording, Pangaea, Agharta was recorded live in February of 1975 at the Osaka Festival Hall in Japan. Amazingly enough, given that these are arguably Davis' two greatest electric live records, they were recorded the same day. Agharta was performed in the afternoon and Pangaea in the evening. Of the two, Agharta is superior. The band with Davis – saxophonist Sonny Fortune, guitarists Pete Cosey (lead) and Reggie Lucas (rhythm), bassist Michael Henderson, drummer Al Foster, and percussionist James Mtume – was a group who had their roots in the radically streetwise music recorded on 1972's On the Corner, and they are brought to fruition here.
