Peter's second CD "New Life" was made in 2005 with his band "Sixtus," which featured long time friends Peter Asplund, Hеkan Brostrцm, Magnus Lindgren, Karin Hammar, Daniel Tilling, and of course Max, among others. Everyone in the band contributed works on that recording.

A four-song German-released EP with cuts from Fireships ("I Will Find You") and The Noise ("Like A Shot, The Entertainer") bracketed by German versions of "Auto" (from In A Foreign Town) and "His Best Girl" (from Fireships.) The latter cut, retitled "Favorit," has Hammill (Van Der Graaf Generator) sounding quite unlike himself until the end, with his measured delivery of the lyrics (in a somewhat French accent!) Proving highly compelling. "Auto (Wieder im Wagen)," meanwhile, becomes even more chaotic and surreal than the original, though the mix on this version is very weak indeed. A fascinating curiosity, though.

Some serial killers seem surreal, as if it's almost impossible to believe that an individual could do such horrific crimes. The Beast of Birkenshaw, a.k.a. Peter Manuel, was such an individual man.

For his third Criss Cross release, guitarist Peter Bernstein leads an all-star organ combo that also includes tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, trombonist Steve Davis, organist Larry Goldings, and drummer Billy Drummond. Some of the music that the quintet performs is typical for this type of hard bop/soul-jazz group, including a hot minor-toned blues, "Means and Ends," and Percy Mayfield's blues ballad "Danger Zone." However, a few of the other selections (particularly Bernstein's four originals) are more complex and serve as evidence that the music was being performed in 1996, not 1966. The musicians all play up to their capabilities and Goldings shows that he was one of the most inventive organists of the decade.

Peter Green is regarded by some fans as the greatest white blues guitarist ever, Eric Clapton notwithstanding. Born Peter Greenbaum but calling himself Peter Green by age 15, he grew up in London's working-class East End. Green's early musical influences were Hank Marvin of the Shadows, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Freddie King, and traditional Jewish music. He originally played bass before being invited in 1966 by keyboardist Peter Bardens to play lead in the Peter B's, whose drummer was a lanky chap named Mick Fleetwood. The 19-year-old Green was with Bardens just three months before joining John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, whose rapidly shifting personnel included bassist John McVie and drummer Aynsley Dunbar. A keen fan of Clapton, Green badgered Mayall to give him a chance when the Bluesbreakers guitarist split for an indefinite vacation in Greece. Green sounded great and, as Mayall recalls, was not amused when Clapton returned after a handful of gigs, and Green was out.

In his own words Maurice Edwards - Clough and Taylor's Chief Scout and trusted friend for almost 20 years - breaks his silence on the famous partnership that was Brian and Peter, in a book Barbara Clough describes as the best book ever written about Brian. This is an absorbing and revealing personal account, with never before heard tales that are sure to satisfy even the most diehard fans of Clough and Taylor.

An excellent idea (if, perhaps, a somewhat self-indulgent one): 12 of Peter Hammill's (Van Der Graaf Generator) finest recent songs, rendered into the German language that his more stentorian vocals seemed to be striving for, even in English. Titled for Out of Water's "Evidently Goldfish," the album is dominated by material from the early '90s: cuts from Fireships and The Noise account for more than half the album, while the remainder is culled from 1988's In a Foreign Town and 1986's And Close As This. But Offensichtlich Goldfisch is no simple retread of already familiar material…

On September 13, 1841, Clara Schumann received a very special birthday present from her husband Robert: the first edition of their joint cycle on poems by Friedrich Rückert. Clara and Robert regularly derived musical ideas from each other, but this Liebesfrühling will be their first and only publication under both names. Tenor Peter Gijsbertsen, soprano Liesbeth Devos and pianist Jozef De Beenhouwer give you besides this Liebesfrühling, even more intimate duets and songs from German Romance.

The latest addition to the acclaimed & award winning Classic Albums series tells the story behind the making of Peter Gabriel's 1986 album So. It was Gabriel's fifth solo album and the first one to have a title (the others all having just been called Peter Gabriel ). The album spawned a number of hit singles on both sides of the Atlantic including Sledgehammer, Big Time, Don't Give Up (a duet with Kate Bush) and In Your Eyes which drove So to multi-platinum sales, the No.1 spot in the UK and No.2 in the US…
