Here's a wonderful live set from the current incarnation of Renaissance, that lovely '70s prog band who so successfully merged classical with symphonic rock and medieval themes. Recorded at The Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pennsylvania on September 23rd, 2011, the band thrilled the audience with a performance of both their classic albums, Turn of the Cards and Sheherazade and Other Stories in their entirety. Joining the 'classic line-up' members Annie Haslam and Michael Dunford are keyboard players Rave Cesar & Jason Hart, bassist David Keyes, and drummer Frank Pagano. If you got a chance to see Renaissance on either the 2011 tour or previously in 2009, you know that this line-up is red hot and does their vintage material justice.

Renaissance were an English progressive rock band, most notable for their 1978 UK top 10 hit "Northern Lights" and progressive rock classics like "Mother Russia" and "Ashes Are Burning". In January 1969, former Yardbirds members Keith Relf, and Jim McCarty organised a new group devoted to experimentation between rock, Folk, and classical forms. This quintet — Relf on guitar & vocals, McCarty on drums, plus bassist Louis Cennamo, pianist John Hawken, and Relf's sister Jane Relf as an additional vocalist — released a pair of albums on Elektra (US) and Island (UK-ILPS 9112), the first one, titled simply "Renaissance", being produced by fellow ex-Yardbird Paul Samwell-Smith. more…

The 5th album by the American Hard Rock band Dirty Looks, released in 1989 by Atlantic Records. This cd sound fits right in with all the great cds he has put out in the past and keeps the 80's feel but makes it fresher. Vocals are outstanding, Guitars and musicianship are excellent.

Turn of the Tides is a concept CD by Tangerine Dream. It is based on an excerpt from The Coachman's Tales by Edgar Froese. The disc opens with a beautiful synopsis of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," one of Tangerine Dream's strongest tracks ever. The samples are timely and the arrangement is flawless. This Tangerine Dream lineup has Edgar Froese and Jerome Froese on keyboards, synths, sound design, guitars, and programming; Linda Spa on saxophones and sound design; and Zlatko Perica on lead, acoustic, and rhythm guitars. The opening track sets the stage as the refrains from "Promenade" lead into the story as the journey begins. Tangerine Dream paints the pictures as this soundtrack to no movie unfolds. (The liner notes do, however, have a recap of the story.)
