All through the brilliant highs and the murky lows of the late '60s and early '70s, Sly & The Family Stone had the globe dancing to the music. The creativity of the mixed-race, mixed-gender, and mixed-genre band shines in this new 77-track, four-cd box set. This incredible collection showcases the classic hits not just in stereo format, but in the good ol' mono mixes which went missing long ago with the transistor radio, and in unheard early versions, and concert performances. Also included are gems from Sly Stewarts' pre-Family Stone period, studio outtakes, and potent instrumentals from this archetype of jam bands. With 17 previously unreleased tracks, it's a lot more music than you knew was there all remastered to hit the pinnacle of sound. As a special exclusive for Amazon.com, included is a CD of 6 more extremely rare and previously unreleased tracks!

There's a Riot Goin' On has been declared by critics as one of the greatest and most influential albums ever recorded, predating sounds found in future groundbreaking albums such as Exile on Main St. and Velvet Underground and Nico. It was a complete change in directino from the high-energy pop-funk singles that were found on earlier records like Stand!. It has been considered to be one of the first instances of the type of funk music later popularized by George Clinton/Funkadelic and the Ohio Players. The records that followed There's a Riot Goin' On are considered to be some of the first and best examples of mature funk music, and the album has inspired musicians from a multitude of backgrounds since its initial release.

Small Talk is the seventh album by Sly and the Family Stone, released by Epic/CBS Records in 1974. This album was the final LP to feature the original Family Stone, which broke up in January 1975.
Small Talk's singles were "Time For Livin'" (the band's final Top 40 hit) and "Loose Booty", an up-tempo funk track which uses the names of Bible characters Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego as a chant. Pictured on the album cover with Sly in a photograph by Norman Seeff are his then-wife Kathleen Silva and his son Sylvester, Jr.
