Andre-Louis Moreau is a nobleman's bastard in the days of the French revolution. Noel, the Marquis de Mayne, a nobleman in love with the Queen, is ordered to seek the hand of a young ingenue, Aline, in marriage. Andre also meets Aline, and forms an interest in her. But when the marquis kills his best friend Andre declares himself the Marquis's enemy and vows to avenge his friend. He hides out, a wanted man, as an actor in a commedia troupe, and spends his days learning how to handle a sword. When de Maynes becomes a spadassinicide, challenging opposing National Assembly members to duels they have no hope of winning, Andre becomes a politician to protect the third estate (and hopefully ventilate de Maynes).

The Bigger The Better, released in 1996, is the second full-length album by the German art rock band Scaramouche (Not to be confused with the other German progressive rock band with the same name). The album sounds quite impressive sonically and there's a good dose of harmony vocals throughout. Quite original, slightly progressive, sweet melodies!

"He was born with a gift of laughter and a sense that the world was mad." Thus opens Rafael Sabatini's historical novel on which this fanciful film is based, following the sensational exploits of a young lawyer thrown into the tumult of the French Revolution. There he becomes an actor portraying the celebrated character Scaramouche, a chameleon who plays both rogue and fool. First published in 1921, it became an instant bestseller, flying onto the stage and then to film in just over two years. Silent film heartthrob Ramon Novarro embodies the enigmatic, charasmatic Andre-Louis Moreau, caught up in the romance and fury of times. Upon release, audiences were gripped by Novarro's electrifying performance, deftly navigating between proletariat and revolutionary, love and despair, cynic and idealist. Vive Le France! Vive Scaramouche!

A classical adventure novel from an author of pirate stories about unsinkable captain Blood.
Scaramouche is a story of a young cynic, who 'was born with a gift of laughter and a sense that the world was mad'. That worthy person turns idealist and then realist, while inspiring revolution, acting with a troup of improvisational actors, learning swordsmanship from a master, joining the political ranks and became widely known under the name of Scaramouche.
