Silver, despite having Brent Mydland (later the Grateful Dead's Keyboardist) and Tom Leadon (brother of the Eagles' Bernie Leadon) as band members, didn't live up to its possibilities. Wham Bam (also known as Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang), a fairly weak slice of bubblegum pop, was the hit from the album…

The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern functions as something of an answer to its predecessor, Cheek to Cheek. That 2014 duet album with Lady Gaga was suitably brassy and snazzy, relying on well-loved standards and pizzazz – the kind of thing designed to stoke nostalgia vibes – but The Silver Lining is a purer jazz record, an intimate songbook collaboration with pianist Bill Charlap; the difference can be heard simply in comparing the versions of "I Won't Dance" that pop up on the two albums – the Gaga swings boldly, the Charlap rendition carries a wry resignation. Songbooks have been a standard item for Bennett throughout the years but if The Silver Lining recalls any specific album in the vocalist's discography, it's The Tony Bennett/Bill Evans Album, a record released in 1975 when Bennett dropped off the major-label radar…

After the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem in 586 BCE, a group of Jews settled in Yemen. They remained in exile, sometimes prosperous but frequently persecuted, until the 19th century. They then began to return to what is now Israel, first in small numbers and later in an organized wave with the establishment of the Jewish state in 1948. They brought with them a rich heritage of religious, secular, and devotional (diwan) music, the last of which includes both religious and secular subjects. Every Jewish community in Yemen had it's own diwan, consisting of works from the renowned medieval Spanish poets of the Golden Age of Hebrew poetry, as well as original writings from community members. These poems, in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Arabic languages, were intended to be sung or chanted. According to the album's compiler Avner Bahat of the Jewish Music Research Centre, the Yemenite diwan is "the richest and most valuable of all." Eleven poems are presented in this 1976-77 recording.

The Belgian-Scottish band Stereo Grand is back with a new album due for release in autumn 2016 entitled “Somewhere A Silver Bullet Lies ». It’s been four long years since their last album “The Invisible Wall”, with singles “Stereo” and « Into Dust” filling the airwaves across the country. Stereo Grand’s first offering from the EP “I’m Coming Home”, gave us the classic “Yeah Yeah”, an instant radio hit, and the subsequent demand for live performances followed. From their debut album release in 2013, Stereo Grand toured non-stop until their self-imposed exile in 2015 to begin their follow-up record.
“Somewhere A Silver Bullet Lies” is Stereo Grand’s most accomplished work to date as the collection of songs defines the groups’ ambition to create emotional pieces with no regard to musical style boundaries.

A river's course is never straight and a well-worn path isn’t always the best way. Costanza’s journey in life and music has followed the river’s course and found new paths. Growing up in the Land of Enchantment was beautiful and heartbreaking. Costanza’s connections to the Rio Grande river valley run deep and so do the scars that he earned there. From ideal early memories of picking apples at the family orchard in Belen, NM to dealing with murder; Costanza gives us raw, unfiltered songs about love, loss and everything in between.

Recorded on July 18th, 2014 as the opening set for Peter Walker's psychedelic guitar experience, William Tyler's Live at Third Man Records LP was buried for far too long in our backlog of masters. To release it too soon would have been to unleash the secrets of the transcendent and acclaimed new record Modern Country (Merge, 2016) before they had a chance to manifest. Too wait any longer would have been torture for us. Originally planned to be a live single, the full, 5-song performance was too truthy, too seamless, and too perfectly whole to be whittled down to two tracks. So, surprise!
