A new generation of composers started their musical careers, and computer music was changed forever. These CDs are for those who support the rebirth of a computer that surpassed the relatively lowly level of its technology: the rebirth of a computer that never died.
For a long time, bassist David Ambrosio has been a vital part of the jazz scene in New York City and his playing has been documented on many releases, including the wonderful trio recordings by pianist Eri Yamamoto. In 2014, a new chapter began in Ambrosio's story when he released his first album as a leader on Fresh Sound New Talent: Gone. Here, he was in the good company of alto saxophonist Loren Stillman and drummer Russ Meissner. Both of them return on Ambrosio's second release in his own name, Moments in Time, with Meissner as the co-leader of the project.
UK band Kingdom Come was the band of British artist Arthur Brown in the first half of the 70's, releasing three critically acclaimed albums before they folded in 1974. The keyboardist in the final line-up, US musician Victor Peraino, was given and used the opportunity to continue using the band name, and released a single album in 1975 as Victor Peraino's Kingdom Come. Since then news around the band have been fairly quiet, although it would appear that there's been a bit of activity. Featuring Arthur Brown on vocals again, "Journey in Time" is the second full-length production issued by the US based version of the band, and was released through the Italian label Black Widow Records in 2014…
Back In Time is the debut solo studio album by Judith Hill. The album includes eleven tracks, and is produced by Prince, who appears throughout the album as a musician. The album was initially made available as a free download through Prince's Live Nation email list, and through Judith Hill's own website for a 48-hour period, followed by a free stream of the full album on Hill's Soundcloud page. Seven months later, the album received a wider official release.
Captured in Time and Space is the first live album of Christian rock band, Petra, and their first live album. Petra's only live-recorded album was also the last album to feature Greg X. Volz as the lead singer. Petra recorded this while on the "Beat the System" tour, so many of the songs are from that album. Some highlights are the solos by Bob Hartman on guitar, Louie Weaver on drums, and John Lawry on keyboards. Also, it should be noted that the CD version of this album is substantially shorter than the tape and vinyl versions. Parts of songs, portions of Greg's preaching at the end, and one entire song were cut so the album would fit on one CD. Consequently, many people have never heard the song The Great I Am, a spontaneous song the band improvised at the show. It has never been performed since.
Fans of Praying Mantis must have approached this disc with trepidation, Yet another change in vocalists was probably the last thing they wanted. This is a stunning album. It appeared on many "best of year" lists in 1998. It is astounding to look back over eighteen years of the band's history to this disc which, at the time of its release, is the best album the band has released. This disc features the very best of everything the band had shown through the years. The songs are very well written. The vocals are immense and the choruses are enormous.
