Celebrating the 40th anniversary of his debut solo album 'Voyage of the Acolyte', guitarist Steve Hackett embarked on a tour with this recording taken from the Liverpool concert of the UK leg in 2015. Songs performed include 'Wolflight', 'Jacuzzi', 'Ace of Wands' and 'Shadow of the Hierophant'…

Essential: A masterpiece of progressive rock music.
This wonderful record (Hackett's first solo outing) is absolutely essential listening for fans of classic Genesis. In fact, then Genesis band mates Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford assist on the album, with Phil providing vocals for the standout "Star of Sirius" (the best Genesis song that Genesis never recorded).
The album is loosely organized around the theme of the Tarot (the awesome and frenetic opening track, "Ace of Wands," is named for a Tarot card, as are other tracks), one of Hackett's interests at the time.

Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection.
To many HACKETT fans this is the pinnacle solo album and I would certainly support this. Loads of brilliant guitar layered with tranquil keys, flute and solid perucussion. Vocalist Richie Havens takes the already great album one step closer to heaven with "Icarus Ascending".

"Defector" is the fourth solo album from former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. It was released in 1980 on the Charisma label. The album is a mixture of smart instrumentals and pleasant vocal pieces featuring Pete Hicks as lead vocalist, though Steve himself would take the odd vocal now and then. Steve makes excellent use of the Roland GR500 guitar synthesizer, which gives the impression at times of several guitarists playing in harmony like the twin guitar leads of Thin Lizzy or Wishbone Ash.

After his much celebrated 2015 studio album, “Wolflight”, which cracked the top 40 in the UK and top 50 in Germany upon release, Steve Hackett has done something unusual for his new live release – he filmed and recorded it in Liverpool.“When InsideOut told me that I could film a gig on the British leg of the 2015 tour for release, I thought that we should do it away from London. My last three DVDs have been done at venues in the city – Shepherd's Bush Empire ('Fire & Ice', 2011), Hammersmith Apollo ('Genesis Revisited: Live At Hammersmith', 2013) and the Royal Albert Hall ('Genesis Revisited: Live At The Royal Albert Hall', 2013). I felt doing it in Liverpool had a certain ring to it. This is an extraordinary city and the Philharmonic Hall is an extraordinary venue. Besides, it's not as if Liverpool is known for having any good music – there's never been a good band from there. Ha!” Hackett's love for Liverpool goes back to his time with Genesis, as he attests.

In May 1978 Steve Hackett released "Please Don’t Touch!", his second solo album and his first after he left Genesis. Like Peter Gabriel on his debut Steve wanted to include as many musical styles as possible and create a crossover from white and black music. The album featured several guests including R&B singer Randy Crawford on "Hoping Love Will Last", American folk icon Richie Havens on two songs, the drummer and vocalist for the progressive rock band Kansas (Phil Ehart and Steve Walsh respectively), Frank Zappa alumnus Tom Fowler, Genesis concert drummer Chester Thompson (also a Zappa alumnus), and Van der Graaf violinist Graham Smith.

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered expanded edition of Steve Hackett's unique 1994 album, "Blues With a Feeling". The album showcased another side of the musical personality of the legendary guitarist. As Steve says; "The Blues is a style of music that's intensely emotional and exciting. The music is the place where truly alive electric guitar sounds were first born. All the sonic developments that rock music inherited stem from that". "Blues With a Feeling" demonstrated Steve Hackett's ability and affinity with the music form and was a very satisfying and entertaining excursion into a new genre for it's creator. This new release has been re-mastered from the original masters and is graced by two superb brand new bonus tracks, especially recorded for this reissue.
