A kind of chamber jazz with voice, on texts by Agota Kristof adapted by Christine Roillet. The voice speaks of life in its happy or anguished forms: to love, to dream, to die. Geraldine Keller says, professes, speaks, sings and overflows to the limits of the vocal improvisation. Plurality of themes, sometimes recurring, between melancholic waltz and languorous vertigo, expressionist effects of progressive rock and atonal lines. Sometimes I dream that I hear an echo of "Cinq Hops", by Jacques Thollot, in 1978 (which is not to displease me!). The whole is deployed in the form of a suite where the soloists, in turn, are offered a field of expression. Many contrasts, often more nuanced than abrupt.

Parisian bassist Claude Tchamitchian belongs to the generation of musicians that arose in the early 1990s and redefined the French new jazz in the footsteps of Louis Sclavis. Comfortable in free improvisation settings but still embracing the jazz tradition, Tchamitchian's playing is well-rounded and graceful, melodious yet creative.
The musical pieces of this project are like a suite of photos, each relating an individual story, but interlinked with all the others to narrate the whole story. Apparently simple, they are deliberately melodic and lightly harmonised for a maximum of 2 voices, through the strong link with the voice (song and texts) and the differing rhythms that create “universes” giving rise to dance tunes in the largest sense, rather than scenes with complex metric patterns. What the project aims to create is a close relationship between the music and its listeners, so that each person can invent his own story.

The individual careers of Andy Emler, Claude Tchamitchian and Eric Echampard place them among the french, even european, most reputed musicians. Real interactive trio where the music develops and takes place in common, this band is situated between rich and diverse musical styles: contemporary, minimalist chamber-music, with the rock energy and the freedom of improvisation jazzistique. It is a matured, accomplished music and of a delicacy of arrangement and architecture " timbrale " remarkable. The album has a unique sound and his own creative dynamic, served by three accomplished and exceptional musicians.

Bop pianist Claude Williamson takes on the standards on this 1956 session, recorded in Los Angeles, which included Red Mitchell on bass and Mel Lewis on drums. The highlight of the album is the often-covered title track by Thelonious Monk; Williamson's work at the keyboard seems to channel Monk on this song.

The violin and piano sonatas of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel draw on foreign idioms: gypsy music in Debussy's case and African-American blues in Ravel's. But they remain completely French works, spiced with something exotic, and British violinist Jennifer Pike forges interpretations that keep this in mind. Start with the "Blues" slow movement of the Ravel Violin Sonata in G major: Pike and her accompanist, Martin Roscoe, avoid exaggerating the bluesy qualities of the music and instead emphasize the odd, almost tense disconnection between violin and piano that, combined with the languid blues melodies, gives this piece its special piquancy.
