Veteran rocker Ted Nugent released his latest 2-CD and DVD "Ultralive Ballisticrock" on October 22, via Frontiers Records. The live footage was captured and recorded by 7 cameras in 5.1 audio mix on the "I Still Believe Tour" at Penn's Peak on August 14, 2011. Nugent is affectionately known as "Uncle Ted" by his fans. Although all of the songs on here are prime cuts, six of them are true highlights. I really love his live renditions of "Wango Tango," "Just What The Doctor Ordered," the poignant "Fred Bear," "Cat Scratch Fever," "Stranglehold" and its closing track, "Great White Buffalo."

The legendary Motor City Mad Man, Ted Nugent rode through the USA on the "I Still Believe Tour" and in this amazing show, Ted conjured up an evening of rock 'n roll magic and emotions, pulsating with the American pride he has come to be known for. With a lineup featuring Derek St. Holmes, the original vocalist & rhythm guitarist for the Ted Nugent Band from the 70s, plus Greg Smith (ex-Rainbow) on bass and Dokken s Mick Brown on drums, Nugent is in classic "Uncle Ted" form on this new live release. This man has a rock 'n roll soul like no other. Nugent is pure Detroit Rock & Roll dynamite, infused with a bit of Motown & blues. His guitar playing is superb and mind blowing. The man is a mad talent, no doubt and Ultralive Ballisticrock proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

In comparing the music of Ted Nugent from the 1970s and the 1980s, some unenlightened souls could possibly be fooled into thinking that they're hearing two completely different artists. Besides the fact that singers seemed to be coming and going steadily through the Nuge ranks post-1978, the music and production went from fierce and rocking to unfocused and surprisingly limp, as evidenced by the 2001 compilation Noble Savage.

Love Grenade is Ted Nugent's 13th studio album. It was released on September 4, 2007. It was recorded at DRS Studios in Waco, Texas. Sales figures, however, have been low, with the album only selling 3,600 copies in its first week, landing it at #186 on the Billboard 200. The pre-release cover art drew some controversy, as it depicts a naked woman bound and with a grenade in her mouth, on her knees on a platter. He remakes the acid-rock hit "Journey to the Center of the Mind", made popular by his '60s group The Amboy Dukes.

After three albums on Mainstream Records and a Top 20 smash with "Journey to the Center of the Mind," Ted Nugent brought his new aggregation to Polydor(the late Lillian Roxon claimed there were 35 personnel changes prior to their first and only hit). This second album on that label (and before they would jump to Warner and eventually Epic), was recorded live at The Eastowne Theater in Detroit, MI, July 31 and August 1, 1970. A prime candidate for re-release with bonus tracks, the full hit is not here; the single disc contains six tracks, including the 21-minute-and-20-second epic "Prodigal Man," written by Nugent and sung by keyboardist Andy Solomon.

While Ted Nugent's second solo album, 1976's Free-for-All, was another raging slab of rock & roll, it wasn't quite as consistent as his self-titled debut. The main reason was due to singer/rhythm guitarist Derek St. Holmes' departure from the band just as recording of the album began (due to constant grappling with the Nuge about certain musical issues). To solve the problem, producer Tom Werman convinced a then-unknown singer by the name of Meat Loaf to handle the vocal chores on the songs Derek was going to sing. While it seems like a mismatch in theory, the results were not catastrophic – such rockers as "Writing on the Wall" (a virtual rewrite of "Stranglehold"), "Street Rats," and "Hammerdown" are classic Nuge stompers.

July 4, 2008 was a landmark night at the DTE Energy Music Centre in the 41-year touring career of Detroit’s own Ted Nugent, as he performed his 6,000th show to a raucous hometown crowd. For the 20,000+ that attended, this show was an affirmation that a Ted Nugent show is not just a show…it is a celebration. A celebration of life, a celebration of Motor City rock n’ roll and, on this night, a celebration of over 40 years of touring to all corners of the earth.
