From the summer of 1966 into early 1967, the iconic Californian rock band embarked on the anticipated follow-up to their 1966 masterpiece, Pet Sounds. The unreleased album, SMiLE, was recorded and drafted through various sessions but was ultimately abandoned and unreleased, until now. This definitive collection features the full participation of original Beach Boys, Al Jardine, Mike Love and Brian Wilson. The band's trademark vocals harmonies and riveting guitar work have made them one of America's bestselling artists of all time. Edited, Compiled and Mastered from the original master tapes at 24 bit/88.2kHz by The Beach Boys' long time GRAMMY-Award-Winning engineer Mark Linett.

It's difficult to object to anything about The SMiLE Sessions, considering the time and care invested into the entire package (which becomes yet more lavish with the varying Deluxe Editions available).

Smiley Smile is the 12th studio album released by the Beach Boys. The record was a simplified version of their original project SMiLE, which never came to be after Brian Wilson discarded a large portion of the music intended for the album. Here is the Stereo version.

Smiley Smile is the twelfth studio album by American rock band The Beach Boys, released on September 18, 1967 on Brother Records and Capitol. Released in the aftermath of the shelving of Smile, Smiley Smile is best known for its sparse and lo-fi production. Upon its unveiling, the album was received with confusion but has grown in stature over the years to become a cult and critical favourite in The Beach Boys' oeuvre. This is the edition 2012 that include mono and stereo version of this LP.

The Beach Boys' first new studio album in five years was a concerted attempt to regain old glories, which it did to an extent, selling better than any record since 15 Big Ones and spinning off the Top 30 single "Getcha Back" and the chart entry "It's Gettin' Late." But despite the production sheen provided by Steve Levine (of Culture Club fame), this is another competent but uninspired effort. Review by William Ruhlmann

Another installment in Collectables' The Ultimate Christmas Album series, volume four gathers a mix of well-known and offbeat holiday tunes, including Elvis Presley's "Blue Christmas," the Platters' "Winter Wonderland," and Perry Como's "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas." Brook Benton's "You're All I Want for Christmas," Percy Faith's "Christmas Is," and Otis Redding's "Merry Christmas Baby" are some of the collection's soulful highlights, while Santo & Johnny's "Twistin' Bells" and Stan Freberg's "Christmas Dragnet" add some novelty to the festivities. Though it's a somewhat uneven collection, The Ultimate Christmas Album, Vol. 4: WCBS 101.1 has enough interesting and classic moments to make it worthwhile for anyone looking to go beyond the season's basic music.
