The Flower Kings like to call their music "symphonic rock". This is appropriate, as there are loads of influences present, from classic music to 70s metal. However, their sound is surprisingly unique. They tend to have really cinematic melodies that are supplemented by riveting drums and gritty vocals…

Limited two CD edition includes bonus CD. 2013 release from the Swedish Prog Rock band. "Being somewhat of a political statement, the epic theme of Desolation Rose is a logical step in a time where perpetual war, famine, environmental threats, religious conflicts dominate the media and our minds. This is a time to wake up and the music on this album takes you on a journey where you are forced to questions what the mainstream media feed us and to rethink your whole worldview on all of the above.

There are a few artists out there that, without trying to change the world, succeeded in accomodating the old recipes to the present day. In the domain of Progressive rock, The Flower Kings is the perfect example. Following a path not unsimilar to Spock's Beard's, the swedish band led by guitarist Roine Stolt achieved to leave its mark in the middle of the Nineties, accompanying the rebirth of Progressive rock. It remains on top of the genre nowadays. It is no surprise then if, after having paid tribute to most of the giants of the Golden Seventies, the artists of today tend to care about that second generation as well. That's how the Musea label and the Colossus fanzine created an album in four CDs, tailor-made for the excellency of The Flower Kings: "A Flower Full Of Stars - A Tribute To The Flower Kings".

Adam & Eve is the eighth studio album by the progressive rock band The Flower Kings. A Japanese edition contained an extra disc which includes the bonus tracks from The Rainmaker bonus disc (the first six tracks), as well as three songs recorded during the Space Revolver sessions. The album has the only appearance of Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw as a full-time band member (he appeared on both Unfold the Future and Meet the Flower Kings as a guest) and is the last album with the drummer Zoltan Csörsz before his first departure (he later appeared on The Sum of No Evil). The album cover illustration was made by Argentine artist Ciruelo Cabral.

Sweden's The Flower Kings represent the finer elements of progressive rock as they artfully expound upon the early-'70s, much beloved British Canterbury Scene amid dashes of psychedelic rock and to a lesser extent, jazz fusion. With this 2000 release, the musicians continue their forward thinking ways, as they touch upon disparate elements amid complex arrangements and tenacious ensemble work along with the occasional nod to contemporary jazz, thanks to multi-instrumentalist Ulf Wallander's tasty soprano saxophone work.

The idea isn't bad, the result is rather convincing, and the added incentive is enough to make The Road Back Home a worthy addition to a Flower Kings fan's collection, but do read on, because you should know what you're getting. This two-CD set is a compilation album – a theme compilation album, in fact…

Another stroke of genius. Vastly different from their darker and highly melodic Paradox Hotel and a nod to the jazz of Space Revolver, the happiness of Stardust we are, and the positive melody-writing of Adam and Eve. This album completely kicks out their tendencies to make an album-flow with short songs, intermissions and interludes…

Sweden played a crucial part in the progressive rock revival of the 1990s, but amid dark-sounding King Crimson-influenced bands like Anekdoten and Anglagard, the positive-thinking Yes-enlightened act the Flower Kings felt almost out of place. Yet, the Flower Kings became, along with the American Spock's Beard, the '90s prog rock band with the largest fan base, the biggest sales, and the widest international appeal…

Meet the Flower Kings is the second live album by the progressive rock artists The Flower Kings. It was released in 2003 as a double-CD, and also as a two-disc DVD concert video.
Excellent double-live DVD! Great picture quality and production, excellent audio quality and mix. The audio is LPCM 48KHz/16bit, not Dolby Digital, but it sounds really good. Good set list and performances. Doesn't really have much a live feel though because it was recorded in a huge studio in front of a small audience.

The ever prolific Roine Stolt brings his Swedish prog-rock monolith the Flower Kings back into the studio for a double-disc outing created around the notion of existence. Light stuff, eh? It is, actually. For those who are wrapped tight in prog rock's knotty, twist-and-turn melodies, quick-change tempos, harmonic extensions, eloquent, guitar pathways that are only topped by keyboard excesses that display acumen and prowess, and glistening production – and production where it takes eight hours to get a guitar solo right in the studio – Paradox Hotel will seem a tad foreign, and perhaps even strange.
