This is the Jackson 5 set to get containing all their important hits plus well chosen B-sides and album tracks. Being chronological means you see their development from 1969 to 1975. I will say no more about the early songs other than they are golden concoctions of pop magic perfected by motown's fearsomely high standards. By 1972 their star had cooled slightly and Michael was now a gangly teenager unsure what to do with his now broken voice, though songs like Looking Through the Windows and Little Bitty Pretty One show the fire was still there.

They also recorded constantly, and a treasure trove of newly discovered, previously unreleased recordings by Michael, Jermaine, Jackie, Marlon and Tito are being released for the first time on Come And Get It: The Rare Pearls. Produced by Deke Richards, leader of The Corporation, the Jackson 5's original hit songwriting-production team, the extraordinary 32-track, 2-CD set enough songs to fill three Jackson 5 albums.

Looking at the cover, which shows Michael and none of his four brothers, one wouldn’t get the idea that this three-disc set is two-thirds Jackson 5 material. While Michael obviously features prominently in the Jackson 5 songs on The Motown Years, he gets one disc to himself. Altogether, this box collects all the essential J5 and Michael singles and more, including 'ABC', 'Never Can Say Goodbye', 'I Found That Girl', 'I Am Love', 'The Love You Save', 'Ben', 'Rockin’ Robin', and 'I Wanna Be Where You Are'. Released in the U.K., it retails for the price of a single disc and is a convenient way to scoop up a large quantity of high-quality ‘70s pop-soul.
