What is the smell ? What do I hear ? I found myself standing on a shore and the first thing I realized was this beautiful seaside atmosphere - calming sounds of the waves crashing softly against my feet and the salty touch to the air I was breathing in and out. I turned around and spotted a lonely beach hotel far behind me.

Have you always wanted to hear the sounds of microbial world? Did that microspace fascinate you like me ? If your answers are yes, let me introduce my Microbiology - Petri Audio Dish for Kontakt library to you. I love new, bizzare sounds and often dream - what some non audible phenomenas sound (or would) sound like.

This instrument is based on ordinary and (as usual with Atom Hub items) old harmonica tuned in D. The instrument has been sampled with intention of providing organic, non-perfect, breathy, shaky, metallic sounds rather than a virtual incarnation of a nice romantic harmonica tone.

I found this old, unused mandolin, hanging on a wall in a dark corner of my cellar. I bought it about 10 years ago in a local music store. I played it for some time, but then turned to another instruments and good old mandolin got down there. When I saw it after such a long time I knew immediately, that its time has come again.

I found this thing on a shelf obviously :-). We used it occasionally as Santa Claus's bell for my little Sam, but how it got at my place… I don't know. My girfriend said, this had something to do with my grandmother… probably she has brought it here. When I ask her, I will update this info :-). It is maybe 0,5 Kg weighting copper (brass) bell with few holes in it and also some short wire on top - to hold it that way, or to hang it somewhere. As I said, I had this thing on a shelf for a long time, but just recently I realized, that it has sound that could be used somehow. I sampled it, knocking on it, ringing and tolling with it holding it hanging on its short oxidized wire.

I have been pleasantly surprised by warm welcome of my Lost Horizon pack so I decided to continue with ambient, guitar-based sample packs. This time I have used my semihollow body electric guitar accompanied with a guitar synth, looper and a hardware fx unit to create samples going a little bit farther. The Planet brings wider sound palette, more types of sounds and is more focussed on experimental side of thing, than to preserve "the guitar sound" in the first place. Hope you will like this one, enjoy exploring The Planet…

Microworld seen under a microscope is surely one of them. Knowing, that hearing bacterias, or enzymes is not so easy (if possible) I decided to use my imagination to create those sounds. I have always been huge fan of audio textures and ambient soundscapes, so microbiology seemed to me like very proper territory to excite my fantasy. I closed my eyes and had heard that curious world from under a microscope, the world whose gigantic constructions were… we ourselves. When I opened my eyes, sounds dissapeared… until I gathered four of my hardware samplers and synths (each one with its own FX section) and started to look for the sounds I had heard. I really enjoyed this work during March and April and also the work on design with basic effects including chorus, phaser, flanger, delay and others adjustable in GUI…

Besides psychedelic, or unusual instruments I am big fan of naturally harmonically sounding objects too. To catch pure, soft, calming, kind of bellish, winterly sound of glass I choose two wine glasses I have found and used at my mom´s home. I have used my fingertips, knuckles and also a wooden stick to hit, pip, stroke the glasses softly and also strongly. This way I obtained several completely different sample sets and built wide offer of wine glass sound kits. Some kits contained more (up to 7 x round robin) samples, some 2 or 3 dynamics layers… Some were made just from one beautiful sample. If you like this kind of sounds and are looking for nicely sounding glasses, try my Wine Glass sample pack. I am sure that among 40 kits made from different samples, you will find more than one you will like. I personally believe, they are all of good use.
