My absolute favorite Black Jazz album was Infant Eyes, by pianist Doug Carn and his wife, Jean Carn. The record had a sensual, powerful feel. What made the album a hit were the soulful lyrics the Carns crafted for jazz standards such as Bobby Hutcherson's Little B's Poem, Wayne Shorter's Infant Eyes, John Coltrane's Acknowledgment from A Love Supreme, and Horace Silver's Peace. Doug's arrangements and Jean's searing, passionate vocals gave the album a distinctly 1970s African-American feel.

Hip-Hop | 00:47:16 | Mp3, 320 kbps | 108,21 MB
Label: Strange Music | Year Of Release: 2015

Pozak could be one of Strange Music’s most under the radar yet consistent artists considering how many within Hip Hop view the label Tech N9ne and Travis control. Dropping several projects over the years, the Saginaw, Michigan-native has established a solid fan base with his horrorcore rap/metal hybrid that’s never strayed too far away from what works. His first project since 2013’s featureless We Fall Down, Black Ink has Prozak fine-tuning everything even further with guest appearances on every track. That becomes the glaring problem with his fourth full-length project. There are moments where Prozak sounds more insightful and revealing. Outside of that Black Ink sometimes sounds like empty chaos with too many guest appearances. Quite a shame too as Prozak is fairly good on his own. However, longtime fans of the emcee know completely what to expect.

After a busy recording career in the 1960s, organist Jack McDuff was erratically documented in commercial settings in the 1970s and was in danger of being forgotten when he launched his successful comeback with The Re-Entry in 1988. At the age of 61, McDuff proved to still be in his prime as he jammed on three originals, two obscurities, and "Laura" with both Houston Person and Ron Bridgewater on tenors, trumpeter Cecil Bridgewater, guitarist John Hart, and drummer Grady Tate. The music on this Muse album falls between hard bop and soul-jazz and should satisfy fans of those styles.

The biggest selling of all Steeleye Span albums is also their hardest rocking record. They sound like would-be competitors to the Who on the opening bars of "The Wife of Usher's Well," with Bob Johnson's electric guitar grinding out power chords like nobody's business…

"Twilight Cruiser" is a very melodic, somewhat melancholy album. The Zeppelin-esque sound is still there, but it's tempered by a much more emotional and personal approach. …
