Brazilian jiu-jitsu is based on leverage and technique rather than size and strength - and for those reasons, it could very well be the perfect art for women. These techniques are not dependent on strength and conditioning, so the jiu-jitsu you learn today can be used today!
William Vandry is a black belt in BJJ and has been training the art for 12 years. Currently he owne and operates Vandry BJJ in Austin, TX where he offers a variety of classes for men, women, and children. Since 1996, Vandry has competed in several Pan-American Jiu-jitsu championships and taken home gold and silver medals. Vandry's Austin based gym has been referred to as a "hotbed of refined students who often compete for the Machado Team" by Vandry's chief instructor and legendary BJJ sixth degree black belt Carlos Machado.
