"To Morocco" is a dynamic and unusual album, not only in Klaus Doldinger's discography, but also in the international jazz scene. And it comes at a special time. On the one hand, Germany's most successful jazz musician celebrates his 70th birthday on May 12 and on the other Passport celebrates its 35th anniversary on stage. The fact that this album comes at just this time is something that Doldinger sees as a signal: From the very beginning his music has brought different cultures together. In times when the differences between the Orient and Occident are being emphasized around the world, it is significant to show these can also be so carefee and entertaining.

Excellent album from Germany's perennial jazz / fusion kings. All tracks are performed beautifully, with top notch sound production and Doldinger's exquisite saxophone melodies. Standout tracks are "Lunatic Dancing" and "Wanderlust." Definitely a shining album by these excellent musicians.

With the release of the Passport anthology we delivered a resume of the past years. Passport To Paradise is a sort of ''position-fixing'' for the current band. I think that the album demonstrates that the title of the anthology, Spirit Of Community, is still valid: The basic elements are traditional, but there are aslo new things and, most especially, live music played with all our hearts. ~ Klaus Doldinger

One could suggest that the names Klaus Doldinger & Passport could be synonymous, for they really are one and the same. Recorded "Live" October 16, 1973, Düsseldorf, Germany. Doldinger Jubilee Concert is notable because it features the addition of keyboardist Kristian Schultze to the line-up.

Already in the 50ies and 60ies, Horst Lippmann with Lippmann+Rau Konzertagentur organized concert tours of black American Jazz, Blues, Folk and Gospel artists in Germany and neighboring countries, when black music was still widely ignored by the white population of the USA. This release was recorded on occasion of one of these engagements, LP 1 was recorded live, LP 2 contains studio recordings. Frankfurt was the main base of the American Forces in Europe, many American visitors add to the atmosphere of the concert. On organ Klaus Doldinger, some call him the most important German Jazz keyborder, and on bass Lothar Meid of Krautrock fame.

A production of the great Klaus Doldinger with Passport, the prestigious fusion german group. Although very well-known, perhaps they never reached the level of popularity wished by his fans and certainly, very well deserved. This album is quite eclectic, but this is a typical characteristic of Doldinger' s music. It goes from a bluesy style, in Lowdown And Flyin ' High (excellent track), a funky touch, as in Korako, the Cuffey' s rap in Passport's In The House, to a deeply intimate sound in Missing You. Down to Earth CD was honoured with the 1st German jazz Award in 1994.

The first Passport album is a hidden gem of the early fusion scene, which deserves to be considered along with the debuts of the Mahavishnu Orchestra and Weather Report in considerations of the genre's evolution.
