For 21 years, Scottish Pop band Deacon Blue have kept their fans happy and the charts busy with hit singles, hot selling albums and sold-out tours. The band's hitmaking formula falls somewhere in between the slickness of Sade and the quirkiness of Prefab Sprout, yet they are constantly evolving, musically. This compilation celebrates their anniversary with 16 of their biggest hits ('Dignity', 'Real Gone Kid', 'Your Swaying Arms', etc) plus three brand new tracks: 'Bigger Than Dynamite', 'Haunted' and 'One About Loneliness'.

They were a pioneering jazz-rock outfit and a hit singles band (which shows how progressive pop music got in the late '60s/early '70s) that wowed fans and critics alike. They were Blood, Sweat & Tears and this two-CD, 32-track set offers not only the most comprehensive collection ever compiled of their work, but also the most appropriate lens through which to view their long and often chaotic career…

Skeeter Davis never received much critical attention, but in the '50s and '60s, she recorded some of the most accessible crossover country music, occasionally skirting rock & roll. Born Mary Penick, Davis took her last name after forming a duo with Betty Jack Davis, the Davis Sisters. Their 1953 single "I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know" was a big country hit; its B-side, the remarkable "Rock-a-Bye Boogie," foreshadowed rockabilly. That same year, however, the duo's career was cut short by a tragic car accident in which Betty Jack was killed and Skeeter was severely injured. Skeeter did attempt to revive the Davis Sisters with Betty Jack's sister but was soon working as a solo artist.

Genre: Pop Rock, Soul / Label: ACE

Ace's Hit List series returns with another top-notch collection of US Hot 100 hits from the first half of the 1970s. The 1970s are now viewed with the same serious musical appreciation as the 50s and 60s. Hit List 2 will be a valuable addition to the collection of anyone who grew up listening to the decade's vibrant music. The album-oriented sound of FM radio might have arrived in the US by the start of the decade, but via the AM band you could still hear a diversity of snappy 45s on your transistor radio. Hit List 2 revisits another 24 of those singles, many of which were also successful in the UK. All versions heard here are the original US single versions, rather than the often-different album versions that have frequently been compiled into other 70s collections. In true Ace style, many of the featured artists are as popular now as when they charted with these songs, while for others the featured selection represented their one moment of chart fame.

Their most popular hit single, "Living Next Door to Alice", peaked at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart and, in March 1977, reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
