This project from Göran Söllscher is a follow-up to his previous CD, the highly successful 'Eleven-String Baroque'. With the balanced sound of Söllscher's eleven-string guitar combined with the Baroque repertoire, the album spoke to not only his fans but also a wider audience craving relaxing music and congenial guitar sounds. In this same spirit, Söllscher's upcoming Renaissance album can be marketed to a wide audience including both his fans and new listeners in search of dreamy, soothing Renaissance melodies. The stylish cover artwork emphasizes both the freshness and universality of Söllscher's art. The album contains Renaissance lute masterpieces by various composers from Italy, Spain, Germany, France and England, the most popular of which were written by John Dowland. Söllscher delivers a dozen of tracks by Dowland, a composer who embodies the 'golden age' of English lute music.

Originating from Normandy, France and now based in Marseilles having lived for spells in Brighton, Bristol and Brussels, the itinerant composer/multi-instrumentalist Yann Tambour (aka Stranded Horse) began recording in 2001 under the name Encre, a project combining samples of strings, piano and voice. Following a series of album and EP releases under that name and having returned to his original instrument, the classical guitar, Yann started to experiment with the kora, building his own lighter, more compact versions of the instrument.

Blue Triangle is a Spring percussion instrument. It is our very first self-built acoustic instrument and it got us hooked on instrument building! This is the first instrument in our Spring instrument group. Sonically Blue Triangle represents the idea of a big sound in a small body. Despite its angular shape, when plucked with a finger, its sound can be round and at times a bit like a gong or church bell. But when applying different articulations, such as scraping with a plectrum or striking with a rubber mallet, metallic, more industrial sound qualities emerge and rattle along with the Blue Triangle's natural spring reverb. As most of our Wobblophones do, the Blue Triangle has a strong presence of overtones (and "undertones").
