The British label Pickwick/Hallmark, is characterized by making re-editions. This time I scored another point by purchasing this double LP’s live by Elton John many, many years ago, with two concerts recorded in the 70s decade (1970 – 1974). I say a success because the records are intact, just like their original versions and the best in a single double album! What more can I ask for?
The two albums John Hartford recorded for Warner Bros. in the early '70s stand as two of the most influential and groundbreaking albums in modern country music. For 1971's Aereo-Plain, Hartford and fiddler Vassar Clements, dobroist Tut Taylor, guitarist Norman Blake and bassist Randy Scruggs played a set of mostly original tunes that fused the irreverent hippie aesthetic with the hallowed bluegrass tradition, thereby more or less singlehandedly inventing the "newgrass" genre. And 1972's Morning Bugle built on Aereo-Plain's breakthrough with a stripped-down line-up of Hartford, Blake and jazz bassist Dave Holland. This two-CD set contains both albums with eight unreleased bonus tracks-four from each session.
When I was about 14 years old in 1988, I heard Pandit Bhimsen Joshi voice very first time in my life in an Indian National Integration song called 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara'. The moment I heard his voice, I felt like my spine was shaking with an ultimate bliss and I still have the same feeling whenever I listen to his voice. In my opinion and experience, he has Khayal's greatest male voice. Although 'Pandit Bhimsen Joshi' born in Karnataka (South India), he achieved greatest success in North Indian Classical Music.
