Marcella Puppini is a singer-songwriter. She is the founder of The Puppini Sisters, a radio presenter on Shoreditch Radio, an orchestra conductor and the lead singer of Marcella and The Forget Me Nots. It does not come as a surprise that Marcella Puppini should have gathered around her, from all over the world, several different collaborators for her solo debut; all very different from one another, some slightly bonkers; some well known, some unknown, indie, irriverent and unexpected. Everything is Beautiful, a project she descrbes as “Electronic Vintage, with an intoxicating blend of Swing House, Electronic Motown-Pop, Fellini-esque waltz-hop and soaring ballads”…

Donny Hathaway would have been 65 years old on October 1,2010. Although the passing of this visionary and multi-talented artist left a significant void, his pervasive influence leaves an indelible mark on popular music. Donny's genius as a vocalist, pianist, composer and arranger was evident in his ability to combine his unparalleled musical gifts with a deep spirituality that permeated all of his endeavors. There could be no better standard bearer for Hathaway's work than tenor saxophon'ist Kirk whalum, whose work has similarly crossed the boundaries between R&B, gospel and jazz with an emotional immediacy that is beyond compare.

MP3 320 kbps 44.1 Khz | No Covers | 83 mb
Indie | Label: In the Red Records

At least superficially, this album is a great step forward for the Vivian Girls. It took them six days to record it as opposed to the three days it took for Vivian Girls, and the songs are longer, too - some almost twice as long as those on their debut. The tracks are darker and moodier, but as this is a notoriously divisive band, don't expect a complete reinvention that will bring the naysayers around. The punk rock influences are still there, as well as the one-take recording philosophy that brought about the accusations of posing and incompetence in the first place

IAMX is basically my public therapy,” says Chris Corner. “It’s my way of being able to connect with the world, to pour my heart out and dance at the same time. It’s also an excuse for me to play with who I am, to explore certain parts of my personality that I don’t get to explore in everyday life.

The record marks the Toronto indie band follow-up to 2013's On the Heart, and it hears the band embarking on a 12-song "sonic adventure." The new material hears Wildlife striving to capture a sense of hope in a world where cynicism often prevails. "Many of us are entrenched in our own nostalgia, grasping at things and feeling and ideas to tie us to a version of the world that makes sense; others live by the un-breaking doctrine that new is by definition better," vocalist Dean Povinsky said in a statement. "Hopefully Age of Everything is a little bit of both." The group toe the line between those warring perspectives across the dark jangly verses and explosively cinematic chorus of "Dead Century," the softer acoustic guitar-driven "Modern Freedom" and the synth-sprinkled pop-leaning combustion of "Over Now."

Edinburgh based trio Stillhound recently announced the release of ‘Bury Everything’ alongside album opener ‘Spring Conscious,’ a vast and soaring pop track with Foals-esque guitar intricacies and towering chorus. Here ‘Time Enough For Love’ and it’s gossamer electronics provide a fitting backdrop for singer Fergus Cook’s hushed yet urgent vocals. Consisting of Fergus, Laurie Corlett-Donald and Dave Lloyd, the band take inspiration from art, geography and the far flung soundscapes of their homeland, creating an avant-pop record with glacial electronics and packed with unashamed synth pop moments. Laced with twinkling piano chords and gentle guitar riffs, ‘Bury Everything’ is set for release on 23rd September via Lost Oscillation Records. Additional production and mixing was undertaken by Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Interpol, Grizzly Bear) and mastering was undertaken by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road.
