2008 five CD box. The Original Album Classics series, courtesy of Sony/BMG, packages together five classic albums from one of the most popular artists on the label's roster, housing them in an attractive slipcase. This set from the Country rockers features the albums Pickin Up The Pieces (1969), Poco (1970), From The Inside (1971), A Good Feelin' To Know (1972) and Crazy Eyes (1973).
5 disc box set includes the albums: Me And Bobby McGee (aka Kristofferson), Jesus Was a Capricorn (out-of-print in the US), Spooky Lady's Sideshow, Shake Hands With the Devil and The Silver Tongued Devil and I. The albums are packaged in mini-LP sleeves.
In Memoriam. By 1980, vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson had evolved from a member of the avant-garde into a top exponent of the modern mainstream. This excellent album (mostly originals and obscurities but highlighted by an inventive version of Bud Powell's classic title cut) features Hutcherson with a top notch all-star group also including guitarist John Abercrombie, keyboardist George Cables, electric bassist Chuck Domanico and drummer Peter Erskine. Pity that this fine set has been long out-of-print.
Rose Of Cimarron is the 11th album by the country rock band Poco, released May 1976. Former Loggins & Messina sax/fiddle player Al Garth joined the band to record this album, but left shortly after due to internal conflicts. The title track became one of the band's signature songs, and was later recorded by Emmylou Harris on her album, Cimarron. Special and interesting country rock mix fused with occasional folk and soft rock elements. A great album from start to finish. Highly recommended!
There are two albums on this CD: the first (tracks # 1-10) "Ghost Town" was released in 1982, while the second (tracks # 11-20) "Inamorata" was released in 1984. Both were of course released on vinyl. This compilation (2 albums on 1 CD) was released by Rhino Records in 1995.
This double LP is a marvel. "The Incas" in all its splendor and maturity.
