Radiohead's new album A Moon Shaped Pool is available digitally right now, and the band have now detailed the album's physical releases, which are out June 17 and available for pre-order now. In addition to coming out on standard CD and vinyl releases, they've announced a special edition that comes with a CD featuring two bonus tracks and a piece of the band's actual, original master tape from one of the band's many recording sessions. "The tape degrades over time and becomes unplayable," they wrote in the product description. "We thought rather than it ending up as landfill we would cut it up and make it useful as a part of the special edition. A new life for some obsolete technology." Read more about the tape below. The special edition comes in a case bound album ("inspired by the albums for 78rpm shellac records in the library of La Fabrique, France") with 32 pages of original artwork. The album is pressed on two heavyweight 12" vinyl records. Find more info here.

A Moon Shaped Pool is the ninth studio album by the English rock band Radiohead. It was self-released as a download on 8 May 2016, backed by the singles "Burn the Witch" and "Daydreaming". The album features strings and choral vocals. According to Pitchfork, "while lite orchestrations are nothing new for the band, A Moon Shaped Pool brings them to the fore of the songwriting, and Greenwood's arrangements do more heavy lifting than on any other album". The tracks are listed in alphabetical order.

A Moon Shaped Pool is the ninth studio album by the English rock band Radiohead, released as a digital download and on paid streaming services on 8 May 2016. A physical release followed in June 2016 through Hostess Entertainment in Japan and XL Recordings in other countries. A special edition, containing additional artwork and two more tracks, will be shipped in September 2016. Radiohead worked on A Moon Shaped Pool intermittently after finishing the 2012 tour for their previous album, The King of Limbs, working in southern France with longtime producer Nigel Godrich. It includes several songs written some years earlier; "True Love Waits" dates to at least 1995, "Burn the Witch" to 2000 and "Present Tense" to 2008. Several tracks feature strings and choral vocals arranged by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood and…

Instead of seeing your friends on this fine, sunny spring day, you've decided to spend the rest of the day indoors. Normally you're not this big of a nerd, but hey, with a new Radiohead record at the precipice of release, everyone embraces their inner boring nerds. It happened back in 2007 when the band announced the release of In Rainbows ten days before release, creating the model for "pay what you wish" album buying for the future to come. Or back in 2011 when the band stated The King Of Limbs would come out in five days, only to release it in four. The band's continued dedication to keep us on our toes and totally fuck up our plans for whatever we were going to do is ingrained in that Radiohead charm.

Filling the gulf between OK Computer's epic progressive rock and Kid A's skittering electronic theatrics, Hail to the Thief borrows equally from each. Its title implies that this will be a collection filled with songs of anger and dissent, but Radiohead no longer howl at the moon like they did on 1995's The Bends. Instead, they use eloquent metaphors and complicated arrangements to express the uncertainty, fear and anger arising from the 2000 U.S. presidential election and a post-9/11 world. There’s no doubt about where Thom Yorke and company stand; the prog-rock break on "2 + 2 = 5" and Yorke's terror at the thought of being "put in a dock" make that immediately clear. But there's a prevailing sense of powerlessness here. The tinkling piano behind the cold sonic surface of "Backdrifts" and the brief, swooping melody in the middle of "Sail to the Moon" are islands in a sea of confusion. Like the band's best work, Thief requires more than a few listens to fully appreciate, but those who stick around will be richly rewarded. –Matthew Cooke.

New Moon’s soundtrack comprises songs that are all original and exclusive to the soundtrack and are performed by various indie rock and alternative rock artists. New Moon director Chris Weitz stated that the soundtrack would feature songs from Radiohead, Muse, and Band of Skulls. Death Cab for Cutie contributes the soundtrack’s lead single, a song written specifically for the film called “Meet Me on the Equinox”, which debuted September 13 during the MTV Video Music Awards. Bassist Nick Harmer says, “We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters.” The English rock band Muse contributes a remix of their song “I Belong to You”, which appears in its original form on their 2009 album The Resistance. St. Vincent collaborated with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon to create a song called “Rosyln”. When describing the song, she said, “[Justin] sings in his beautiful falsetto and I’m actually singing very, very low… I think there’s something vampirey and creepy about the two of us singing together.
