The three-disc box set Singles Collection: The London Years contains every single Rolling Stones singles released during the '60s, including both the A- and B-sides. It is the first Stones compilation that tries to be comprehensive and logical – for all their attributes, the two Hot Rocks sets and the two Big Hits collections didn't present the singles in chronological order. In essence, the previous compilations were excellent samplers, where Singles Collection tells most of the story (certain albums, like Aftermath, Beggars Banquet, and Let It Bleed, fill in the gaps left by the singles). The Rolling Stones made genuine albums – even their early R&B/blues albums were impeccably paced – but their singles had a power all their own, which is quite clearly illustrated by the Singles Collection.

It's fascinating to listen to the Stones' development over the first couple of years, from the tentative stabs at Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters on their very first single, to the fire-breathing, ruckus-raising sounds they achieved just a few months down the line. Not only do we get to hear them master their beloved forms of blues, soul, and '50s rock, but we witness the birth of their songwriting talents as well. Here the group shifts from an R&B cover band to a creative force capable of turning out not only the churning rocker "The Last Time," but also the ominous, folklike "Play with Fire."…

The third in a series of handsome box sets, SINGLES 1968-1971 is yet another must-have for hardcore Rolling Stones fans. As with the earlier installments, the collection presents the original 45's in CD format, along with a booklet of informative liner notes, vintage photos, and promotional artwork…

The second in the series covering all of the Rolling Stones' classic 45s in CD format, SINGLES 1965-1967 starts at the exact point where the Stones became more than just a better-than-average bunch of English boys declaring fealty to Chicago blues, "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." Ending 11 discs (and numerous B-sides) later with the hazy "In Another Land"/"The Lantern" (the second single from the consistently underrated THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST), this set presents the period where the Stones truly earned their status as the World's Greatest Rock Band…

Metamorphosis is the third compilation album of The Rolling Stones music released by former manager Allen Klein's ABKCO Records (who usurped control of the band's Decca/London material in 1970) after the band's departure from Decca and Klein. An album of outtakes, demos and rarities recorded during the band’s period with Decca Records has some interesting tracks. Some of the demos only feature Mick on vocals and have session musicians, including Jimmy Page and Big Jim Sullivan on guitars. On the original UK release there were sixteen tracks, whereas the US version omitted “Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind” and “We’re Wastin’ Time”, two of the demos. ABKCO released a couple of singles at the time, including Mick’s version of “Out of Time”, sung over the original backing track for Chris Farlowe’s hit version.

A sequel of sorts to ABKCO’s three boxes of singles replicas from the mid-2000s, Universal’s The Singles: 1971-2006 is a gargantuan 45-disc box set that offers single replicas of every 45 the Rolling Stones released between Sticky Fingers and A Bigger Bang. Singles that saw release over multiple formats, whether they’re 12" dance singles or multi-format CD singles, see their various B-sides combined onto one CD, resulting in a whopping total of 173 tracks, 80 of which are “not currently available on official release.” This is a true statement but it greatly overestimates the actual number of genuine rarities here: most of these cuts are dubs, remixes, and extended versions, with only a small handful of B-sides being non-LP cuts…

Blue & Lonesome is a covers album by The Rolling Stones - their 23rd British and 25th American studio album - released on 2 December 2016. It is the band's first album to feature only cover songs. It is their first studio release since 2005's A Bigger Bang. "Just Your Fool", a Little Walter cover, was released as the first single from the album on 6 October. In April 2016, at the launch of the Rolling Stones career retrospective Exhibitionism, the band confirmed their new album due to be released "some time in the autumn". Richards said the album would feature "a lot of Chicago blues". Eric Clapton plays guitar on two tracks. Clapton was recording his own album in the same studio as the Stones were and was asked to play on a few tracks. The album is entirely blues-based, consisting of covers of artists such as Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter.
