Snarky rock songs interlaced with succinct guitar solos and elements of the blues and soul. Witticisms laid down across a melodic landscape accented by raucous grooves and tight arrangements. Originally from Rochester (NY), Gary spent the 90s playing in original bands in both New York State and metro Atlanta. Some of these bands were Visible Man, Naked Edge and the Dragonflys. With the new millennium, Gary moved to Florida, where he soon joined the Fragments for one album, "More Than The Sum Of The Parts". This CD is composed of songs written by Gary Eisenbraun. Since then, he has recorded several original CDs…

German band Seven Steps To The Green Door was formed in 2004 by keyboardist and saxophonist Marek Arnold (Toxic Smile, UPF, Flaming Row, Cyril) and drummer Ulf Reinhardt. They released their debut album "The Puzzle" in 2006, a production that saw them awarded the 1st prize in two different categories at the German Rock and Pop Awards.
Their second album "Step in 2 My World" was released in 2008, a production where the band explored more in depth the use of poly-rhythmic sounds, complex vocal harmonies and jazz-oriented instrument details in their compositions, but also an album with room for compelling compositions with more of a ballad-oriented expression…

It took a long time for Johnny Ray Jones and his friends to get Feet Back In The Door finished and bring it to market. The process actually started back in 1995 when Jones joined musicians Tony Braunagel, Marty Grebb, Joe Sublett, and Johnny Lee Schell got together, formed a group, and recorded four songs that somehow never got released. Thankfully the project didn’t just disappear and they were able to complete the album by recording around busy schedules during 2015 and 2016, and now the album is available, and let me tell you, it’s a damn fine album.

Norwegian trumpeter Mathias Eick makes his ECM debut as a leader with this set, which features keyboardist Jon Balke and a guest appearance from Stian Carstensen - usually an accordionist, but here playing that jazz-band rarity, the pedal-steel guitar. Eick (who also plays vibes and guitar) has played with everybody from the pioneering Trygve Seim collective to Chick Corea, psychedelic group Motorpsycho and contemporary jazz-rock band Jaga Jazzist. His silky, unbrasslike sound is ideally suited to this undulating groove-landscape, and pianist Balke's apposite fills and asides help give the music a collective fluency. But there's more angularity in the rough offbeats and low keyboard grunts under Eick's airy lines on the funky Stavanger, the stately Cologne Blues is like a slowed-down Carla Bley piece (with Carstensen's steel guitar shimmering beneath it, and a probing Balke solo), and there's a folk song lilt to the mid-tempo Williamsburg. A lot of it is slow tone-poetry, but Eick's rather mournful, puffs-of-air sound is pretty captivating.
