JERUSALEM were formed in the early 70's and after releasing a self-titled album in 1972 they disbanded only to reform in 2008 and release their second album "Escalator" followed by the critically acclaimed "Black Horses" released in 2014. For their fourth album with original members LYNDEN WILLIAMS on vocals and BOB COOKE composing they are joined by the cream of the prog rock musicians GEOFF DOWNES (Aisa & Yes), NICK D'VIRGILIO (Tears For Fears & Spocks Beard) and they have created a stunning prog rock album that ticks the boxes on all musical and creative fronts.

Spock's Beard never ceases to amaze me. The Oblivion Particle has so much prog goodness to love, that it will just draw you in Bennett Built a Time Machine to take this release back to the 70s, because it is loaded with classic material. The band has built such a huge catalog of excellent albums, so it would be hard to call any of them the best. However, I would put The Oblivion Particle up there with the top releases as it could be their best. If you are looking for a new prog gem to add to your collection, then look no further. If you love Spock's Beard, then you will definitely love this album. I can see this release lasting with it's homage to the 70s, and that ooh so good feeling that you will get when you hear it.

Chris Beard joins the leaders of the newest generation poised to take music into the next century. Beard was born into the Blues of Rochester, New York on August 29, 1957 as son of blues guitarist Joe Beard, who is just now receiving recognition as a recording artist. Chris grew up surrounded by blues players and the music. Naturally there were many greats passing through the house as they came to town to do shows with Joe and his band. Buddy Guy and Matt Murphy are just two of the many ace guitarists Chris remembers from those early days. Chris Picked up the guitar at age five and there was no looking back. The first tune he could pick out was “Green Onions”, which is appropriate as that funky mix of blues and instrumental panache that characterizes so much of his style today..

One of the coolest collections we've heard from Keb Darge in years – not the funk and soul he first gave us when he started putting compilations together, nor the rockabilly and R&B from more recent years – and instead a fantastic array of rare late 60s garage rock and freaky fuzz singles! The set's tone in collaboration with Cut Chemist – another DJ we'd never expect to know this music so well – and together, the pair turn their talent for rare record digging to an arena that never seems to get old – the under-underground of the pre-hippy years, with a stunning selection of tracks by artists who worked in the deep shadows beneath bigger acts like Count Five, The Seeds, or Standells.

Mike Stern is a preeminent guitarist for two key reasons: One, he can play all styles very well and with equal command; and two, he plays very well with all other players. He always shows great respect for those with whom he is playing and gives them each the time and space to develop their musical ideas. Stern displays these two qualities in abundance on Play. Several notable guests join Stern and his core band for this release. Guitarists John Scofield and Bill Frisell and drummer Dennis Chambers each team with Stern on several tracks. If you enjoy straight-ahead jazz, listen to Stern and Scofield on the title track, or mix in Bob Malach's tenor sax on "Outta Town"…

Ray Charles' seminal recordings for Atlantic have been boxed once before, as the triple-disc 1991 set The Birth of Soul. That box contained 53 tracks, the best moments of what is arguably the best period of Charles' career, but Rhino/Atlantic's 2005 seven-disc sequel, Pure Genius, doesn't bother with merely the highlights: as its subtitle makes clear, this is The Complete Atlantic Recordings (1952-1959). This is undeniably a major historical release, since it gathers all of the recordings Charles made at his creative peak, not just as a leader, but as a sideman for his saxophonist David "Fathead" Newman and sides he recorded with jazz vibraphonist Milt Jackson.
