Thrash Metal

Rapidly rising in the scene, Greek thrashers Suicidal Angel continue to offer a punishing assault of revivalist thrash that’s allowed them to become one of the main exponents of the scene in general. Despite some minor hiccups here and there don’t really matter much to it in the long run, this one really manages to come off as one of the more impressive and enjoyable efforts in their consistent run of albums which makes this a fine pick for any revivalist thrash aficionado or fan of the bands’ previous work.

Thrash Metal

Probably still not a gem in the crown jewels of Thrash Metal, yet energetic, feisty, brutal and an old school devoted follower, the old guard would be pleased. Coming from a Metal scene that always had something to do with neck breaking Thrash, SUICIDAL ANGELS are still glorious, defying the commonwealth with their intensity. “Divide And Conquer” might be for the ones that truly respect Thrash Metal…

Suicidal Thoughts: Essays on Self-Determined Death
Publisher: Hamilton Books | ISBN: 0761841180 | edition 2008 | PDF | 70 pages | 1,2 mb

The book you are about to read provides a unique view of the world of suicide. It is a world inhabited by people who have committed or contemplated suicide and those who live in its devastating aftermath. The writings collected here are authored by a variety of accomplished professionals woven together by the happenstance of personal experience. Struggles of selfhood, debilitating depression, and existential longing take the reader (or at least this reader) to an inside corner of the self where our fears about life and death cling to the fragile props of our own invention. It is a testimony to Max Malikow’s long devotion to understanding suicide, as well as his editorial acumen, that this book grabs our hearts for both the questions it makes us consider and the people it helps us to understand.

The Art of Rebellion was released in 1992 on the Sony Music label. It is widely considered to be Suicidal's "experimental" album. The album was very different than anything Suicidal Tendencies had done before, but it was actually their most melodic, accessible album to date. It lessened the bands thrash influences, instead focusing on a unique, almost alternative metal sound, with more emphasis on funk and progressive rock, as well as traditional metal guitars. Although different, the album was greeted warmly by most fans and many critics. The album was also the band's most commercially successful album.

In 1990 Suicidal Tendencies released the album that many fans consider to be their masterpiece, and the album that almost broke them into the rock mainstream, Lights…Camera…Revolution! The songs were much more complex than on any other Suicidal album, some songs bordering on progressive metal, but also showed a new influence of heavy funk music. This made the band's sound increasingly unique and difficult to categorize…

The band's first release with Epic was How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today, released in 1988. The album was almost completely stripped of the bands punk and hardcore roots, instead featuring a thrash-oriented sound with more complex song structures and a greater emphasis on instrumental skill than the band had ever shown previously. However, the album was considerably more melodic than most thrash metal albums, perhaps a lasting influence of the bands punk past.
