Label: Jasmine Records | Release Year: 2016

Eileen Rodgers might be called "The Star Who Never Was". She burst on the national scene in 1955 with a long string of singles and acclaimed musical comedy performances on the stage, but in seven quick years her recording career was over. She nevertheless made such an impact, the she is still remembered today as one of the great vocalists of all time. Includes the hits "Give Me", "The Wall", "Treasure Of Your Love" and of course her biggest hit "Miracle Of Love". This excellent issue by Jasmine is a complete collection of her singles, many of which have not been heard since their original release plus highlights from her acclaimed cast recordings in Fiorello, Tenderloin and Anything Goes. Eileen Rodgers never became the superstar she should have been, but her distinctive sound continues to attract new listeners, and her fans have steadily increased through the years and hopefully she will never be forgotten.

MP3 320 kbps CBR | 34:36 min | 88 MB
Genre: Jazz, Blues | Label: Sunset Blvd Records

Multi-instrumentalist & vocalist Slim Gaillard's joyous music appealed to adults and little children alike, with songs about love, traveling, potato chips, beer, and everything in between. Searching For You: The Lost Singles of McVouty (1958-1974) is the first collection of new Gaillard music officially released with the endorsement of the Gaillard family in decades. Very little is known about the label sources (i.e., Putti Records, SGM Records, Delgado, Blue Chip Records, etc.), but they all seem to have been made for companies likely owned by Slim that he was sending out to A&R men and radio stations trying to score regional hits. Most tracks in this collection come from co-producer Tom Samuels, who won a series of eBay auctions containing rare 45s.

The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth album by the English rock band Pink Floyd. Originally released on 1 March 1973, on the label Harvest, it built on ideas explored in the band's earlier recordings and live shows, but departs from instrumental thematic by founding member Syd Barrett. The album explores themes including conflict, greed, the passage of time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by Barrett's deteriorating mental state. It produced two singles, "Money" and "Us and Them", and is the band's most popular album among fans and critics, and has been ranked as one of the greatest albums of all time.

It's impossible to summarize the remarkable career of Placido Domingo in the span of a single disc, but The Best of Placido Domingo is an admirable showcase of the attributes that have assured the singer a place among the greatest tenors of all time. First and foremost, there is the voice an extraordinarily rich instrument that he wields with power, grace, and unerring musicianship. Domingo is also renowned for his versatility. He has always explored diverse areas of operatic literature and challenged himself artistically through a wide variety of roles. The disc includes several arias from operas by Puccini and Verdi that have been central to his musical life and ably demonstrate his artistry.

Sly Stewart is one of pop and rock's great enigmas. A charismatic performer, full of a boundless, good energy, a wonderful songwriter and, at least when he was in his prime, a man with a sure vision, Sly still somehow managed to throw it all away by the mid-'70s. The classic work he did with Sly & the Family Stone, though, is worth its weight in gold. This 20-track set has all the essential hits, including "Stand," "Everyday People," "Everybody Is a Star," "Family Affair," "Dance to the Music," and "I Want to Take You Higher," among others, and for most casual listeners, it has everything they'll really need.
