'The Weight of Your Love' is the follow up to Editors' two consecutive Number One UK albums, 2007's 'An End Has a Start' and 2009's 'In This Light And on This Evening'. Their debut album, 2005's 'The Back Room' has sold over half a million copies in the UK. · This is the first album to feature new members Justin Lockey and Elliott Williams, following the departure of founding member Chris Urbanowicz in 2012. It was recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville with producer Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Norah Jones, of Monsters And Men, Kings of Leon) and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arctic Monkeys, the Horrors, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver). Tom Smith has described 'The Weight of Your Love' as 'having a foot in that alt rock / Americana world' and of 'feeling untouchable at times.' Recorded mostly live, it contains their most direct songs to date and also features extra production from Clint Mansell on 'Nothing', rescored from the original to become what Tom and Ed Lay both describe as the 'centerpiece' of the album. Lyrically focused on love songs… that don't adhere to the traditional love song type, the album sees Tom Smith sing in falsetto for the first time on 'What Is This Thing Called Love'.

Peyroux set out to record a collection of songs with their own hymn-like stories of self-awareness & inner dialogue, a communal consciousness & a spiritual essence. Here, Madeleine intimately renders tunes by seminal blues artists like Willie Dixon & Lil Green, gospel singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe, dub star Linton Kwesi Johnson, 3 renowned American composers (Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, Allen Toussaint), 19th century composer Stephen Foster & ending with a traditional African-American Spiritual.

The great British jazz singer Norma Winstone once again casts her net wide for source material for this third ECM album with Italian pianist Glauco Venier and German clarinetist / saxophonist Klaus Gesing. Alongside new pieces by Winstone/Gesing and by Venier, the trio covers tunes by singer-songwriters Nick Drake, Fred Neil and Tom Waits. They take a fresh approach to Madonna’s “Live To Tell”, and to Dave Grusin’s “It Might Be You”, as well as Ralph Towner’s “A Breath Away” (now with lyrics by Norma) and “Bein’ Green”, a children’s song elevated to jazz standard status by Sinatra, Stan Kenton, Ray Charles and many more. “As Winstone moves ever farther from the Great American Songbook,” All About Jazz observed, “it's certain that, with band mates as sympathetic as Gesing and Venier, there's precious little she can't do”.
